I have been running into a particular dog owner at my condo complex as of late, very early morning before any others are around at 5:00am. This young women of small frame is walking what is obvious a un-socialized pit mix that she can barely control.

This dog doesn’t just pull on leash to go after my dog but also me while out on my patio having morning coffee without my dog. This is a pretty scary dog, If this girl looses control it would be seconds before it charged and attacked me. My thinking is that this person only brings this dog out during off hours knowing of the danger. I only see the dog and owner in the early morning hours or late at night so just a guess, but for sure, this dog can’t be walked in public around people or around pets safely.

I’m not one to be a tattle tale about an unruly dog to the condo association and won’t, but I have started to bring my pistol out with me for the morning coffee at first light on the patio, if that dog comes at me or my dog, it’s done.

There has got to be some solution short of killing the dog. :(

I'm never one to encourage tattling on someone but if it's a case like this, I think it's a better solution to go to your condo association than having to arm yourself daily against a possible threat like that.

Have to spoken to her? Suggested that maybe it's time to send the dog to school? Told her that you have your coffee at 5am and would appreciate her not bringing her dog by because it clearly is threatening you?

Are you sure that you won't get your ass handed to you by the law in your jurisdiction if you shoot the animal?

I'd calmly tell her your fears & concerns, using a friendly-enough manner, asking her if she could kindly take a different walking route that does not bring her dog and you into regular conflict.

I'd add:

After firstly taking-up the matter with the women herself ...

Best to be a tattle tale now and let TPTB investigate, instead of reading about this dog attacking and maiming, perhaps killing someone in the near future, would it not? Think of the regrets you would have then...

And what happens when you open the morning paper to find it's mauled some kid to death?

This is not a condo issue as they have no power to do anything. The lady has the right to own the dog and it is on a leash. They'll tell you to file a complaint with your local police dept, that is if you have a legitimate case
against the owner. IF the dog is barking at you a lot in a threatening manner, ask the police if you can file a complaint. If she is in violation of the nuisance laws in your community, she'll have to comply.
I was an HOA board member for many years so I know what I am talking about here.
