Helping vets: Promotion ideas for my non-profit

If you charge for the food, yes, make it at the restaurant. Or see if your friend doesn't mind manning the grill. All the other stuff can be prepped and cooked ahead of time. But in the certified kitchen. If you're serious about this, you may consider getting your serve safe licence. Get it through the Mexican restaurant, include their name as being one of the donors to your fund. Serve safe classes run about 250 bucks. The test isn't difficult. This way, you can be the "on deck" person, without having to recruit. What you ultimately want, is to insert yourself into events, like 4th of July fireworks, fairs, carnivals, etc. Those may cost you a little, though. The returns will be much larger.

What is Serve Safe? If I do this, I'll still have to have food prepared in a commercial kitchen, though, right?

We live at the beach, so people go ape**** around here during the summer.

I started veteran's advocacy all on my own.
The response has been overwhelming, but manageable.

Talk about this particular veteran's issue.

CUT OFF .... Veteran's kicked to the curb by the VA when the VA decided to stop issuing them pain killers for service connected injuries, all because of a POLITICAL descision. Having nothing to do with their medical conditions or injuries.

Now they are clueless as to what to do. There are answers for them, but when it comes to opioid abuse, the VA is the biggest abuser.
First the VA irresponsibly OVER prescribes, then they irresponsibly CUT OFF thousands of veterans who need them for POLITICAL purposes.

Seek out these vets who have been cut off and i can give you details on how they can get responsible private medical care, and alternative methods.
The VA just passes out pills and does not do much else.
If it is not in a pill bottle, then they have no solution.
my experience has been quite different....frequently I get asked if I am in pain, I always say no or "nothing that I need drugs for". I have had access to CT scans and MRI if there is any indication that something can be gained or learned. Current worrisome issue is double vision that started about 2 years ago, and I have faith that the VA doctors working with Univ. of Utah will keep looking for an answer...

If you get a good VA doctor, hold on to him with your life. Some of the best doctors my husband have seen were with the VA. On the other hand, some of the worst were also with the VA.

Serve safe is licencing for food prep/cooks. It varies by state, you restaurant friend will know. With it, you will still need a proper kitchen to prep food ahead of time, but burgers and dogs can be grilled on location by you.

That is the point.

SOME VA clinics and hospitals are excellent. Others are pure crap. You roll the dice when you relocate to another area.
My advocacy is not about the quality of care, but their POLITICAL decision to take everyone of pain killers with no regard to whether they need them or not.
This is what happens when POLITICS takes priority over medical need.

For every one opioid abuser I can show you one hundred more who are doing it right.

Their political decision created an "Opioid Crisis" all on their own.
A self-induced one.

My advocacy is to show them they do not need rely on the VA and their politics for their medical care.
They need to see a doctor who is not under national politically inspired directives.
They need a doctor that only deals with their medical issues.
Currently, this is not how it is in the VA system.

PS...Houston is another really good VA Hospital. Every doctor you see there has a Baylor College of Medicine tag on their smock.
Excellent.
but...sadly, they are still under those stupid national politically driven directives that have nothing to do with medicine.tumblr_ohbjzzxzWs1qh59n0o1_540.jpg
