We started using a food delivery service called Doordash a while back, and just had a bad experience that Doordash went over and above the call of duty to correct. Our order this evening was all incorrect. One item was missing, and none of the condiments we ordered for the rest of the order arrived either. I went into a chat with Doordash, expecting redelivery of the missing item, and giving up on getting the condiments for the rest. Instead, Doordash credited the entire amount, which was more than 30 bucks, back to my account with them. Essentially, we got our food today free of charge. Anybody can screw up an order, but it is rare that a company does customer service at this kind of level. Tomorrow, I am going to the BBB web site and making a recommendation for this company. It is refreshing to see such an honest company out there. Will I use them again? You bet your ass I will. :)

These start-ups tend to have gobs of Venture Capital to blow through, which will stop once they need to make money....them blowing a lot of money on you (to include employee time) as I assume has impressed you means less than you might think.

Food delivery specialist DoorDash raised $535m in a recent Series D funding round led by SoftBank with participation from existing investors Sequoia Capital, GIC and Wellcome Trust.

Not wanting to be a Debbie Downer on Easter no less but reality must be respected.

I'd love to live in a town big enough to use a service like this. All I have delivery for is Domino's, which means if I get hungry, I cook or take a drive into town. It's cool that they are trying to make good on screw-ups.

Hubs and I went to The Crab Shack on Tybee Island in Savannah last year. We'd been there several times, but this time was just horrid. The food was either cold, undercooked or just plain nasty, which was rare, because it was generally quite good. The server, too - huge asshole. Well, we paid and left, and then left them an email once we got home. That's how we do, because I don't want to make a scene in a restaurant. I don't want to be "that person," that "can I speak to your manager" person.

Within an hour of my email, I had a phone call from the manager, and she gave me over $100 worth of fresh seafood as an "I'm sorry." We got low country boil for 2, she crab stew for 2, key lime pie for 2 and a few other things, and had it delivered next day air, from Savannah. I felt so pampered. We thanked her profusely, and plan to go back.

I see, you would prefer doing business with companies that give you a middle finger in response to complaints in order to save a few bucks. You are going to be an easy mark for them.

No I say these companies spend money like drunken sailors so take what they give you with no regret, just dont think that them blowing money on you makes you special.....nor makes them them at the end of the day special, because any nincompoop off the streets can blow VC money.

You don't have Uber Eats?

Doordash is ass, so is grubhub and all the other delivery services.
Why?

None are out in my area, so I have to drive to get dinner.

Wow. Your response is nuts.

1) Making sure the customer is treated fairly, and gets what he paid for is not spending money like a drunken sailor. It's called ethics, but I doubt you would understand that.

2) Make sure the customer gets what he ordered is blowing money? Remind me to never buy a used car from you.

3) Finally, being treated fairly doesn't make me special. It means the company understands what ethics is all about. Yea, ethics, that word you seem to have never heard of.

We just got Uber.

Small town, remember?
Wow, that's almost hard to believe. The reason I say that, is when a driver signs on for Uber he automatically is registered to drive Uber Eats, unless he specifically opts out. So maybe the next time you Uber, you might ask the driver if Eats is available. If you ever Uber, that is! ;)

I will look into it. I don't Uber here in my small town, but I do use it when we are in big towns, going to venues that I don't want to bother parking in, etc.
