Anybody using this service? I'm looking into trying it out and want to know others' experiences with it.

What is it?

Google's cell phone service. They piggy back off of Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular services. Whichever tower is strongest for your phone is what your phone uses. So you don't choose a provider. You have three. Then you pay for only the data you use each month in gigabit blocks. $10 per gig.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll stick with Verizon.

Took the leap. Phone should be here by middle to end of next week. I fortunately have access to the guy that the phone companies here locally have to get permits for their towers. So he's told me whose making better service gains and whose not doing so much. Verizon dominated Santa Fe for a long time but apparently T-Mobile has taken over and Sprint is close behind. With Googles "Project Fi" I will be using T-Mobile and Sprint here. Whomever's tower is strongest from wherever I'm standing at the moment.

Alright... phone comes later this week. If anyone is interested in follow up on its use, just reply to this and I'll keep posting about it.

Okay... my Pixel 2 XL gave me the black screen of death the other day. Everything still works but you can't see anything. Still can call it and it rings etc...

Contacted ProjectFi support and they will replace it. Here's what gets me, I have to accept a refurbished used phone to replace my new phone... no reduction on price. Paying monthly on this phone on top of my service plan and still owe quite a bit. That seems jacked up.

So, other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I don't understand the Lincoln reference with regards to my phone issue.

Project Fi. Some of the worst customer service EVAR!!!! Since my phone blacked out due to manufacturers defect, I still don't have a phone. It's been 26 days. Here's what I posted on their forum:

Talking to someone from my work phone. Nice guy. Here's the lowdown on what ProjectFi is completely screwing up...

Support has "escalated" my case three times. I believe this means my case has been handed up the tree to someone with more authority. There is no follow through on a case once it has been escalated. At least not where they reply to me to let me know what's going on.

I sent my broken phone back the day after I contacted ProjectFi and they've had my broken phone for over three weeks now. The "Bug" they are having is that their software system doesn't allow them to click a button in their software that recognizes that my broken phone has been received. This is called "Tagging". And here we are, they can't/won't send my phone until their software allows them to click this button to tag my old phone to indicate that they have indeed received my broken phone.

This is the issue from what I understand. A simple software glitch with no one having the authority to override it and make the call to send me my phone despite them knowing that they do in fact have my broken phone in their possession. It seems Project Fi has been bested for a month by a greyed out radio button.

The hardest part to accept here is the lack of any urgency to replace people's phone.

I went ahead and filed with the State Attorney General due to a lack of response from Project Fi. Clearly, I don't advise using this service.

Reading this thread is kinda like seeing the pictures of a pretty girl hooked on crack...

Starts out pretty,
Then a little rough
finally no teeth, bags under the eye's hair gone.

Sorry for your trouble's man, sometimes the grass is greener over there,, but it taste like sh!t
