Winter Olympics...More USA FAIL

Those skaters are incredible athletes and skating is as much a sport as gymnastics or fencing or weightlifting or wrestling or tennis, etc. Certainly more than golf.

It's the only Olympic sport in which we old farts could possibly be competitive.
Plus, 2010 Canadian silver medalist Cheryl Bernard was a knockout.
She wore her bodysuit really well.

Yeah, I know....

I'm having some fun with old attitudes like when women weren't allowed to play hockey and that's why figure skating was invented.

I would never poke fun in real, I know NOT ONE hockey player would even try their simple stuff

They are very gifted athletes, but any sport that relies heavily on opinions for their final score (also the reason I hate the CFB Playoffs) is not really in the spirit of sport. Sport should have a finite goal. Get the ball in the hope, over the goal line, into the goal, into a hole, runner to home plate, etc. There is no finite goal with figure skating. That means, in my mind, it is not a sport. The Olympics should be about fastest, farthest, highest. Not prettiest, spinniest, fashionable-est.

We are increasingly not good at anything....I am trying to show people that the inability to produce anymore is everywhere...as America fails everything fails....nearly.

I argue that me trying to wake my peers up to how America is failing and thus how BIG PAIN is coming is both a patriotic and a humanitarian effort.

I note with sadness how many people either can not or will not pay attention to what is going on right in front of them.

That so many can not or will not figure this out for themselves brings great sadness.

The end of the Olympics for me was when we (US) caved to the world and money and began sending professional athletes to the games. Hawkeye's screeches are correct on that account, "we used to be better!" Other than that, I can find no commonality with him or his posts......I'll refrain from changing the font size to make point....

Why? Is basketball in the summer games? I liked it better when the college kids played and not the pros. If it is, that surely shows how much attention I have given the Olympics.

My kids are soccer players first but they do other things. I remember taking my son snow boarding at our local mountain. He was on his teens. I was walking at the bottom of the hills by the food and bar. I don't do the snow sports. Anyway there was this father working with his son, maybe 8 years old. I thought the kid looked great on skis, turning and coming stopping etc. One time the kid came down and stopped by using the pie technique which apparently is for beginners. His father could be heard yelling at him that he was too experienced or whatever to be doing that. This was also near the bunny slope where plenty of others were just starting out. The father belittled his son so all could hear. I felt bad for the kid. His father was acting like an asshole. My son had a great time and eventually did some snow board teaching. That's all I got. Have a good night.

I have no idea where you are trying to go but I will point out here that the Winter olympics were made into something like the X Games under pressure from the USA given that this is the sort of thing that we are good at so we will have an advantage far into the out years.....

Has not worked out that way, this has gone the same way as the almost 3 decade certainty that the Chinese can not innovate so they will never be a threat to America.
