During two phone calls today with Dear Old Dad, we touched on some really boring stuff... like health and 2017 K1 income. My two adult daughters tend to communicate more with my dad than me. Their mother and I (married 22 yrs) finalized a contentious divorce in 2011. This former wife, on a Good Day, refers to me as no more than Sperm Donor of her two daughters. Thus, I ask my dad about the daughters. I also wanted to remind him the 2nd oldest has her 25th birthday January 20th. He then mentioned my oldest daughter and her husband have gone on vacation right now in Oman. Dad said they researched and deemed Oman safe.
Hmm thinks I.... a relatively rich Arab male-dominated strict Monarchy safe for two practicing nerdy Jews?
I know little more about the details. I hope to hear more about it in the near future. When the two of them married about 4 years ago, they went to Borneo for their Honeymoon.
I have Great Love for Kahlil Gabran's passage on Children in The Prophet -
paraphrasing: You don't own your children. These sons and daughters of Life yearn from within. They have their own thoughts. Yes they come through you... live and learn with you, but they don't belong to you. You can house their bodies but not their souls. Their souls dwell in a future apart from yours in a place you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You can strive to understand them, but seek not to mold them in your image. Life does not move backwards. Picture yourself as a bow....
God knows I Love them!
