I'm Coming Home.

Truthfully, getting high even just once ought to be seen as bad IMO. But hey, your body your choice pal.

There once was a time when I would have thought that to be bad advice. But, now? I have to agree. Drugs are best left alone.

No doubt, my sister and cousin are coming to grips with weed and their overall degenerate lifestyles.

I'm saddened when people conflate my libertarian view on drugs with a support for drugs.

The first amendment grants you the right to proclaim the values of the KKK, but that doesn't mean you should go ahead and do it.

I hear ya. I'm certainly opposed to legislation designed to prevent people from making wrong choices. But, like you said, that doesn't mean I want someone I care about to make wrong choices.

Messing around with drugs is a bad choice. The stuff is just too dangerous, grabs you before you know it, and sends you into such a severe tailspin that you may not get out of it. And, one has to question just how many weed smokers do go on to use harder drugs.

Weed today is so strong too that I hear chronic users are going through actual withdrawals when the try to quit. Granted it's not a heroin like withdrawal, but quitting pot and suffering a month-long case of depression is certainly not out of the question these days.

And, then there is being a pothead in general. It's not only a great way to literally waste away years of your life being wasted, but there is a reason everyone who is not a stoner calls stoners burnouts.

Your Olympic event friend ought to go to the clinic for a std screening, that **** is rampant in your age group.

Yeah, probably so. This is one reason why I will never getinto casual sex: way too damn risky.

In reading all of your threads about your freshman year, you sound pretty anxious. If that's true, getting caught up with any substance use could be concerning.

Yeah, I sometimes am anxious. But I understand the concern, CC.

If only we could get people off dopamine.

I believe most young people who change sex partners like socks use condoms. At least they did a decade ago or so.

I dunno... there apparently is an explosion in STD's from what I've read.

There is. That's why casual hook-ups can be very risky.

I think it's kinda weird being that your generation got the HPV vaccination. And before that vaccination, HPV was the prevalent STD out there by far. You youngsters are working overtime I guess.

That's fine.

imo, it would be better to wait till your brain reaches it's full physical maturity , and then make a choice about it. That's when you're 25. However, moderation in all things.. :p (including moderation)

You sound like a level headed girl, keep at it, it will get easier with practice.
It is also good idea the have a good time and make friends in University.

The real problem is addiction to it and the other neurotransmitters.

Sure. That's why us adrenaline junkies need to find positive addictions.

I'm so nonaddictive in my personality that I'm not only NOT an adrenaline junkie, I don't even care to watch videos and live vicariously through adrenaline junkies.

Any ideas about what to do with those with vast amounts of money relentlessly trying to get more money? Or those in power who never stop seeking more power.

We treat those addicted to gambling and sex, two other neurotransmitter addictions, but ignore greed and the hunger for power. All of them are primary drives. Things our brains addict us to to get us to keep doing.

Looked at through this lens, most of history is a cycle of "junkies" feeding their addictions until their Jones starts to cost everybody else too much and they are forced to stop.

I've played it wisely, adjusting my addictions to suit my age. So, instead of bungee jumping at age-50, I just took on a more challenging job and ride my bike for 50 miles every chance I get.

Good analysis.

Now THAT's something I admire.

Get back to me though when you do a half century ride on a 60 Ilb bike like this at an elevation exceeding 7000 feet.

In khakis and regular shoes, no less.

Yeah... I was walking it up the big hills. The other dude in that pic actually made it up peddling the whole way. He was in wayyyy better shape than I.

Next time you get discouraged, don't. I am a 50 year old undergrad because I got so discouraged, and covered up with life, and work, and bills, and kids, that I walked away from college for years. I am back now to finish, and have less than a year to go. It's hard as hell, girlie. Hell I am older than most of my professors. But I am the first in my family to ever get a college degree, and that has to count for something.

I respect anyone who finishes their college degree, but I have a lot of respect for people who finish that degree later in life. Rooting for you to make it across the finish line!
