19 Years Old.

Welp guys, today happens to be my birthday. That’s right: I’ve been on this floating green rock for 19 ****ing years. 19. Still crazy for me to think about. Even though I look like a 15 year old girl (seriously, people tease me for that all the time ), I still feel kinda old. I’m feeling more and more like a grown woman. Which is kind of a weird feeling for me.

I’ve already gotten a few presents. My girlfriend sent me a coffeemaker, which I am so unbelievably grateful for (coffee keeps me going). I’ve been using it every day since it arrived. She also said she wished we could’ve had birthday sex, but obviously, that is not possible with us being in two different states. Guess we’ll just have to save that for Thanksgiving break, then.

My baby sister sent me a few anime posters (Kill La Kill and Yuri on Ice, if anyone’s curious). Love me some anime, although I need to start getting back into that; haven’t made any time to watch much anime recently. They're supposed to come in today, so I’ll need to pick those up later at the SC. My friends have something “special” planned for me tonight. They’ve been completely tight-lipped about it, so I have absolutely no idea what surprise they have in store for me. But I’m certainly excited to find out what they have planned.

But in all honesty, I could care less about the gifts. Sure, gifts are nice and all, and it’s thoughtful, but those are just things. I’ve never been much of a gift person anyways. What really matters is friends & family. Gifts are great, but nothing can come close to the feeling of knowing how loved I am.

I woke up this morning to a bunch of happy birthday texts from my family, friends, and girlfriend. And it put a giant smile on my face. Made my eyes water a little. Personally, that’s the best thing about birthdays; the reminder that I have so many ****ing people that care about me. And I am so grateful for every single one of them. I don’t know what I’d do without them.

But I can’t forget my DP family. I love all of you guys (Okay, maybe not all of you, but to the ones I’m talking to, you know who you are :)). I’m so glad I’ve found the perfect forum to express my unhealthy obsession with politics. I’ve been a member for over a year now, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I love that I’m able to share some of my most personal experiences and feelings with you guys. Many of you are so thoughtful and understanding. You’ve helped me to grow as a debater, but most importantly, as a person. And for that, I am grateful.

Thank you Debate Politics.

Happy Birthday, Gov.! :2birthday

Happy B-day Governess

Happy birthday fellow millennial. You can now drink or after July 1st smoke weed anywhere in Canada.

She could have been drinking legally for a year in Montreal and TBH could have gotten into a bar for at least the last 3 years

Happy B-Day.

Take good pics to remember them years later.

You feel old...

I have clothing older than you.

I'm 28...I think I do too. Lol. Seriously though...I'm just now starting to get to that age where I hate college kids. Not the individuals. Just the groups.

Happy birthday. Try not to get too wasted. Fun **** is only fun if you can remember it. The best drunk stories involve other drunks.

I'm over 40, and I still love watching old "Lost in Space" episodes with my little boy. You got a robot for a best friend, you are zooming all around the galaxy, and who doesn't secretly have a crush on Penny Robinson?

You never have to grow up if you don't want to.

I'm planning on getting drunk this weekend. But not too dunk. Never been totally wasted before, and I don't want to be.

Maybe you found DP and liked it, but some of that is a reflection of the awesomeness of theGoverness too. Happy birthday!

Ah , your last year as a teenager. Enjoy that last year.

You are getting ready to embark on the road of life. Learn from others' mistakes. Take those adventures now so later on you don't kick yourself for passing them up.

Happy B-Day

You remind me when I was about your age. I felt the same and used to receive lots of gifts and text messages.
Like you, when I was 18/19 people use to tell me I look like 15 or so.

I am 34 today but now I fell some how young. I see so many people in my age take loads of medicine, stimulants like coffee, energetic drinks otherwise they got no energy. Or just looking like old. When I look at them I feel young because I don't drink coffee at all and I don't take medicine at all. I am full of energy, disposition, flexibility and excitement about go out and explore the world.

On the other hand. Now a days I barely get text messages on my birth days and sometimes no gifts at all.

It is funny when we are about 19yo with the feeling we went through a lot. In fact we go through a lot when we are children and teenagers. But today with 34 I feel all that happened in the past went so fast.

Happy birthday.

When was 19, God hadn't said, "Let there be light" yet.

/thread.

Happy birthday, TG. Age is a number. How old you are is a mindset.

And remember, the biggest difference between being a kid and being an adult is that when you're an adult, no one is going to clean up your messes for you. That's why, as an adult, it's always good to know where the garbage bags and the cans of Lysol are.

Better yet stay a kid and know where the adults are to take care of the mess you make

Well don't feel too old. There are bands older than you I still consider "new music". :)

And as far as feeling ambivalent about this whole being an adult thing, that usually lasts forever. My 40yo niece is fond of posting stuff like this:

At my poker home game last night there was a fun moment when old guy #2 (85 y/o) realized he wasn't the adult because old guy #1 (87 y/o) had him beat by 2 years. The funny part is that they've been playing at the same table for about 3 years now.
