Welp guys, today happens to be my birthday. That’s right: I’ve been on this floating green rock for 19 ****ing years. 19. Still crazy for me to think about. Even though I look like a 15 year old girl (seriously, people tease me for that all the time :lol, I still feel kinda old. I’m feeling more and more like a grown woman. Which is kind of a weird feeling for me.
I’ve already gotten a few presents. My girlfriend sent me a coffeemaker, which I am so unbelievably grateful for (coffee keeps me going). I’ve been using it every day since it arrived. She also said she wished we could’ve had birthday sex, but obviously, that is not possible with us being in two different states. Guess we’ll just have to save that for Thanksgiving break, then.
My baby sister sent me a few anime posters (Kill La Kill and Yuri on Ice, if anyone’s curious). Love me some anime, although I need to start getting back into that; haven’t made any time to watch much anime recently. They're supposed to come in today, so I’ll need to pick those up later at the SC. My friends have something “special” planned for me tonight. They’ve been completely tight-lipped about it, so I have absolutely no idea what surprise they have in store for me. But I’m certainly excited to find out what they have planned.
But in all honesty, I could care less about the gifts. Sure, gifts are nice and all, and it’s thoughtful, but those are just things. I’ve never been much of a gift person anyways. What really matters is friends & family. Gifts are great, but nothing can come close to the feeling of knowing how loved I am.
I woke up this morning to a bunch of happy birthday texts from my family, friends, and girlfriend. And it put a giant smile on my face. Made my eyes water a little. Personally, that’s the best thing about birthdays; the reminder that I have so many ****ing people that care about me. And I am so grateful for every single one of them. I don’t know what I’d do without them.
But I can’t forget my DP family. I love all of you guys (Okay, maybe not all of you, but to the ones I’m talking to, you know who you are ). I’m so glad I’ve found the perfect forum to express my unhealthy obsession with politics. I’ve been a member for over a year now, and I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I love that I’m able to share some of my most personal experiences and feelings with you guys. Many of you are so thoughtful and understanding. You’ve helped me to grow as a debater, but most importantly, as a person. And for that, I am grateful.
Thank you Debate Politics.
Happy Birthday, Gov.! :2birthday
