Every donation is appreciated, of course. But is this donation newsworthy from a good standpoint? Mr. Las Vegas is worth $120 million dollars.

To put it in perspective, someone is worth $1,000 and donates 83 cents.

I think he is crazy for publicizing this. You?

Its a good thing. My mom taught me to smiling say "thank you" even when you question the aptness of a gift freely given.

Good mom! Did she also teach you not to toot your own horn though?

Yes she did. I see your point about Newton. But I really think its minor he basks momentarily in some credit. Its fine with me.

That was my first thought, too...how generous of him...NOT...

I feel like the most shocking thing here is that Wayne Newton is worth $120 million....

As for determining how generous he is, I'll tell you how I'd figure it out, being an analyst nerd... I'd take all the contributions from all the other folks in his "worth bracket", however that would be defined, plot it all on a curve, and deem the top 10% as most generous, regardless of the dollar amount. I wonder how many other people worth ~$120 million donated to this... Need. More. Data. (please read that last bit in a robot voice).... :)

It's great he donated, but I agree his tooting of his own horn publicly is kind of silly.

is it him actually publicizing it and going on and on about it or was the donation handled poorly so its out there not or did it just come out and then he was asked about it etc.

I guess if he is going all over the top and publicizing it maybe thats a touch much.

But the reality is, he isn't required to donate one cent and its still generosity. Its hard and would be hypocritical for me to judge since i havent done **** yet lol

And to think...this is the town he has to thank for his millions...SMH...

To put it in perspective, it is roughly the same proportion that Trump donated to hurricane relief in Texas which was heavily promoted and publicized.

Seriously?

I see no indication that he's doing this to be a publicity hound. I see no indication from press statements that he's making it about him. Nor do we know how much he normally gives to charity.

Sorry, but I'm a bit stunned that you are slapping him for doing a good deed.

Your indignation is noted.

Wayne Newton's still alive? That's news to me.

Yeah, I do too. It just screams, "I'm a cheapskate AND an attention whore! Applause, people. Applause!"

Let me know when most of the Hollywood elite or sports stars give one red cent to anyone. At least he's trying and you're criticizing him for it.
