Wreck

Yeah, I know. But I just didn't like the thought of months worth of receipts and important papers possibly scattered to the wind, in a vehicle with busted out windows. But yeah, I did break down a little when I saw the truck. If one didn't know anything about the crash, and just saw the vehicles, you wouldn't really believe anyone survived. Especially the other car. Ironically, my little plastic receipt box survived, but when the impound guy helped me pry the back door open it fell out on the ground and the receipts spilled out all over the ground. :2mad:

Plus, in this day and age you have to get rolling with these things immediately if you want to minimize your chances of getting screwed. Interviewing attorneys, writing an account of the incident, getting a police report, and on and on. No rest for the weary.

It's amazing what a mess it makes in a work truck when it rolls over a couple of times.

Yeah, I know you needed your stuff. Did you at least bring someone with you for moral support?

Well, I can't sleep, and I'm sore as hell. But, I'm lucky to be alive.

I was travelling up a highway yesterday afternoon doing about 60, when a car crossed directly into my path. No time to react much, t-boned him and rolled over several times. Came to rest upright (thankfully). Some witnesses came to my aid almost immediately, and pried my door open to let me out of the vehicle, didn't even lose consciousness. Truck is completely totaled, but considering the circumstances, held up like a champ. Between the Chevy Silverado, and God, saved my life. OnStar was talking to me when the bystanders let me out, and had already alerted authorities. The other guy was pretty much okay too. If he had had a passenger, I doubt they would've survived.

I loved that truck, I'm gonna miss it. :(

Yes, I know I could still have injuries that haven't fully manifested. But they CT scanned me at the hospital, and poked and prodded, and let me go. As far as I'm concerned, this was a true, blue miracle.

I am glad that you will be OK.

I did about 700,000 miles OTR before I packed it in back in 2003. I have seen some brutal accidents out there.

The one common denominator for survivability (IMO) in many of the multiple 4 wheeler vehicle wrecks that I have seen is a full framed vehicle. Could you imagine if you were driving a Hyundai Santa Fe?.......you would have had the engine block in your lap.

Sounds to me like your old truck may have saved your life.

No, wife was at work. The owner of the yard, and his staff were very nice and supportive.

WOW!
Hopefully there will be no long term damage to you

Thank you.

Yes, there's no question that tough old pick-em-up played a major role in my survival. I've been under that truck forty or fifty times changing the oil and whatnot. I always kind of marveled at how beefy the frame was. I'm not an engineer, but it always seemed very well designed to me. God Bless engineers.

I've logged more miles in four wheelers than the average Joe, and I've seen some absolutely horrific wrecks out there too. Never thought I'd be in one. :(
