I just got out of history class a little while ago, so l'm done with all my classes for the week. I've got a little homework to do ovet the weekend, but nothing too hard. I like all of my professors so far (although I haven't met my Music Appreciation professor because he's out for this week). But my favorite class by far is my Government class; I've been so invested in the discussions that we've had so far. It's a shame I only have that class twice a week. I'm glad the classroom is small, so that I can actually participate instead of being in a giant lecture room.

Since I've been here, I've made a good number of new friends. I am trying to be more sociable than I usually am (basically forcing myself to get out there and talk to people). And thanks to my suitemates, I've already went to one party, and I'm planning on going to another one next weekend. And I'm usually not much of a party person.

In short, my first week of college was pretty good, even though it was pretty rainy for the most part. I think I'll have a lot of fun here.

It sounds like you might enjoy it. It does take time to feel totally at ease, but the small clases and new friends will get uou there in no time. And learning things you are interested in is always exciting. Have fun.

I will. :)

These small, bigoted towns are not going to take kindly to a godless LGBT student. Probably need to try and get transfer admission to a more progressive place like UT-Austin as soon as possible. Probably have a rape culture problem, too.

You are smart enough that there is a decent chance you are going to end up disappointed in your teachers and peers, however I am happy for you.

And no stories of your childhood home being flooded, which I take as a good sign.

I hope you have a blast, give em hell!

SthFASthOoo is a great university, TheGoverness. I took two degrees there sometime ago. You will have no trouble because of orientation or gender or color. That's fool talk if anyone says so (those losers are probably at Sam Houston State). If the Garage is still open, go have fun. I am glad you have no reported flooding, though I imagine Pearl Street from Main all the way North has had its problems.

Have a blast! Ax'em!

I've only told my roommate about my sexuality, only because it came up. I haven't told anyone else, but judging by the environment here, this campus is pretty liberal and accepting. I doubt anyone will care about that, or my atheism.

Uh-huh. Sure.

So ahhh.....how many semi-naked pillow fights in the dorm has there been already?????

:2party::devil:

You'll have plenty of free time in your freshman and sophomore years so make the best out of it. Develop good study habits and you'll do fine. Enjoy!

Beware the freshman 15

Please tell me that this a bad joke...

Yes, I'm going to try to make some good study habits. I don't want to fall behind on my work. And I'm definitely going to go to tutoring when I need it.

And I'll try to keep my alcohol intake to a reasonable level. I definitely won't get ****-faced drunk like my suitmates do.

You are entering a different world. It's not going to be immediately obvious, but it is. Two-thirds of people in Nacogdoches county voted for Trump. Be wary.

I believe in moderation when it comes to substances..... if you can stop from getting drunk too early in the game, and learn the tolerance of your body, you are ahead of the game.

Just remember, women absorb alcohol much better than men do, and their bodies get rid of it at a slower rate. The whole' one shot per hour' for driving is based on the male metabolism. It's better not to drive at all if you drink at all... but remember that piece of information for when you go out drinking, for measuring how much alcohol you consume (yes, I know you are underage for that.. but I know how things are).

Oh, I assure you I won't be.

Eeeek! I'm so scared of Trump supporters! They're gonna jump at me from the shadows and attack me! Waaaaah!

The majority of my family voted for Donald Trump. I'm still alive. I'm gonna be just fine.

That's great! Why am I not surprised at your favorite class!? I'm glad your first week went so well and hope the rest does as well :)

Are you serious? What a jerky thing to say.

I have a pretty high metabolis; it's really difficult for me to gain any weight.

So I think I'm good.

Ugh...and here I was liking you and all that!

The one overriding rule in the universe is: Don't be a dick.

You just broke that rule.
