Hello dear friends of mine! I, Axis. The one and only - have been diagnosed with psychopathy. Thoughts, anyone?

Moderators and more importantly. The administrators. This catagory of the forum, has been declared a "all subject; discussion area". THIS [thread] is valid. You just may not likey.

They're not gonna likey.

I think psycho is better than socio. Psycho means thinking everything is about oneself; socio means not having emotions. So there's still a pretty big group of people you can look down on!

Wrong. The difference between psychopaths and sociopaths is that psychopaths lack a conscience. Sociopaths do not. Besides that, they're fairly similar.

It's hard to have a conscience when everything is about oneself. Socios lack empathy and in extreme cases emotions entirely, but they don't believe the world is about them. Trauma can bring on psychopathy but not sociopathy. One is born a sociopath, knows it and hides it.

A better source?

This one is better:

A key difference between a psychopath and a sociopath is whether he has a conscience, the little voice inside that lets us know when we’re doing something wrong, says L. Michael Tompkins, EdD. He's a psychologist at the Sacramento County Mental Health Treatment Center.

A psychopath doesn’t have a conscience. If he lies to you so he can steal your money, he won’t feel any moral qualms, though he may pretend to. He may observe others and then act the way they do so he’s not “found out,” Tompkins says.

“At worst, they’re cold, calculating killers,” Kipnis says. Others, he says, are skilled at climbing their way up the corporate ladder, even if they have to hurt someone to get there.

This one is even better, and even has a charming screencap of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho adorning it.

I agree with that, and a psycho doesn't have a conscience because he thinks everything is about him and nothing else really matters. People talking on the street? About him. A passing muttering? About him. Stealing your stuff? About him.

Now, regarding sociopaths. Those lacking or partially lacking emotions are born that way, they know it and hide it. A mild sociopath might not realize it and could go diagnosed. A "real" sociopath, lacking emotions, is damn well aware of what they are from basically day 1. Some, presumably, hide it their whole life. And I heard they sleep in coffins.
