Are You a Psychopath? Your Career Choice May offer a Clue

I disagree. An accountant/financial analyst will have a lot of opportunities to boost their ego and sense of self importance.

Most people have at least 1 or 2 traits that are found on the psychopathy check list. Even you and me have them. But psychopaths will usually have all of the character traits.

One trait is the inability to stay employed. So a psychopath accountant isn't going to be commonly found, since psychopaths can't keep a job. They also just wouldn't be interested in going to school for accounting in the first place.

Career military, 21 years active duty, another 26 working for the army as a civilian. Surprising the military isn't listed. The military can harden one's heart to where not much effects him. Some anyway. Whether that's good or bad, who knows?

Psychopaths tend to be irresponsible and have poor behavioural controls. Doesn't suit the military.

I think the common belief by experts is that psychopaths are born, and not made.

Yes, we like our routine. You're right, everyone must own up and fly right. Never thought about that.

That could be. I was a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Leonard Wood for three years. The idea was to tear the trainee down and mold him into a good soldier. Make each and everyone realize they are part of the team, not an individual anymore.

How the **** does Chef fit in there

Journalist... I am actually surprised by that. The guy from Night Crawler, I can see that, but that was a movie... ... I don't think most journalists are like that.

Actually, there are a lot that are like that. I don't know that they're actually journalists, but they sure consider themselves such. They are just ultra-biased individuals who are fanatical about their point of view and are going to shove it into every piece they write. I can see a lot of them having psychopathic tendencies.

Everyone's something to some degree, some people lean more psychopath, some people lean more sociopath. Doesn't mean you're clinically diagnosable, or that there is anything wrong with you. Like most things that deal with the mind, it's a spectrum. Unless you're up above the cuckoo line, you're probably ok.

I am a caregiver so I guess I'm safe...
