I kept getting this robo call to call 844-369-3821. Would anyone know where this area code 844 is located?

I got suspicious so I called Apple who told me they do not call customers about possible security breaches on their devices. They said it sounded like a scam, phishing.

I called that number back, asked a couple questions and they hung up!

So if they call...

I don't think that I would call back a number I didn't know.

Never, ever, ever call back anyone that either you don't personally know or that doesn't leave a credible message. I don't even answer calls that I don't know anymore. If it's important, they'll leave a message. Otherwise, screw 'em.

VM left: hi this is Patricia, I am looking for a Kevin (my last name). Please return my call as soon as possible.

A quick google says it is some kind of credit/collection agency, most who have posted comments are bewildered about why they were receiving calls from them

I made a big mistake about 15 years ago. A collection agency left a VM for someone whose name was close to mine. I called back to say it wasn't me. What a stupid move that was. They harassed me for money they claimed I owed them. They called me numerous times. I had to threaten to get my lawyer involved and then all calls stopped.

Lesson learned.

I've got this app on my phone, "Mr. Number". It blocks many spammers. You can also report spammers and block them for yourself and others in the Mr. Number user universe.

Most phone companies have the ability for users to block unwanted numbers. I use Vonage for my land line service and I'm pretty sure I can block up to 10 numbers.

I'm pretty sure all mobile phone service providers can block even more numbers if you'd like.

I use "Should I Answer" on Android, its great. Can even click to see what the caller has said to other users, or what they rated it as. Super useful.

I used to get 2-3 scam calls a day, no more.

yes you can block lots of numbers on your cell now a days

I no longer have a land line since it seems redundant to have two phones. My service provider's plan allows me to call anywhere in Canada or the US for zero dollars

when I think of all the bills I wracked up over the years on long distance it is mind numbing

I'd love to see all DP users report when these bastards call trying to rip us off, and instead of not calling, we ALL call, and spam the hell out of them. Cops can't do anything about them because they are overseas, but if we were to squad up and be relentless, we'd shut them down simply by making it impossible for them to know who was scammable and who was scamming them... :)

I get robocalls all the time saying the IRS is after me...which is weird, because I'm Canadian. Scam! Or the "Windows Help Desk" calls... Anything that leaves a call back number should be posted here, and let all of us go crazy on it for a few hours...then post the funniest reactions. I think it would be a lot of fun, and a "pay it forward" initiative for DB! :) hehe

Like the ones from the guy with the thick Indian accent claiming to be from MS. I'm not even nice to those ass-clowns. I usually start with "You liar!! You aren't from Microsoft any more than I'm from Neptune." That's about the time they hang up...

lol...not me. I try to waste as much of their time as possible.... I kept a guy on the phone for almost an hour once, pretending I was a computer noob and couldn't figure out what he wanted me to do.... Also happened to be hammered with a bunch of buddies standing around egging me on...lol...
