US woman shoots boyfriend in YouTube stunt - BBC News

A Minnesota woman has been charged over the fatal shooting of her boyfriend, in what authorities say was a social media stunt gone wrong.Monalisa Perez, 19, was booked into county jail after shooting at Pedro Ruiz as he held a book to his chest, believing it would stop the bullet.
The couple's three-year-old child and nearly 30 onlookers watched as she fired the fatal bullet into his chest.

And holy hell...

the weapon used was a .50-calibre Desert Eagle handgun.

The quantities of stupidity here are staggering.

30 onlookers too?

A bit late for the Darwin Award - one three year old and GF is pregnant again. ;)

Mommy, what happened to Daddy?

Well, I'm sorry to say that I shot him to death.

What?

Well you see, it was his idea, but what we were trying to do was get as many "views" on Youtube as possible. You know, we wanted to make a viral video.

So you shot him?

Sadly, yes, but it was an accident.

WTF made him think a Book could stop a point-blank .50 caliber bullet :doh

The fact that he already tried it out.

I'm still having a hard time understanding what type of individual would test a .50 cal round on himself :2razz:

I mean ... could you just test it on the Book ... all by it's self?
