Is it the humidity? How about the heat? Or, maybe you're biggest bitch about summer is just having to work inside on beautiful days. Whatever it is. Please share.

My peeve are fruit flies. I eat a lot of fruit at my desk. And, apparently I am a bit messy about it because this time of year there are usually a dozen fruit flies buzzing around my head.

I think I'll go get a wet paper towel and wash my desktop. There must be sticky residue somewhere near that their little noses are picking up on.

It is so ****ing hot down here. Seriously.

Everytime I go outside I can't concentrate. The heat sucks.

I hear ya. I spent a June in Port Arthur back around Y2K. I could not believe how uncomfortable it was. And, I'm usually pretty good with heat. It was just so damned muggy...even at night.

But thankfully for me it's been sorta rainy this week. But when it's not, it's hot as a mofo.

Curious to see what our friends out West think right now.

End times?

Yep, it is the humidity that gives us those ridiculous "fells like" temperatures. Today's forecast here is 103 and, unlike you, I work mostly outside.

For me it rained just about all of May and now it's Rains everytime I want to play Golf.

Just last night I was talking to some folks about how we must have been out here too long if we can tell the difference between 116 degrees and 114 degrees...and say with a straight face stuff like "at least it's not as hot as yesterday".

I can take the heat here ( Middle California) We have very little if any humidity,, What I hate is how brown and dead everything gets around here.

About a decade ago, in winter, we drove through the Temblor Range, from Bakersfield to SLO. I was absolutely amazed at how green and colorful it was. Usually we did this in summer, when all we see is a sea of brown.

I'll take summer over winter any day but summer does have its downsides:

1. Mosquitos and other biting flying bugs
2. Humidity
3. Burning myself when I get in the car
4. I often work from home so my kids can sometimes be a distraction during their summer break.

#1 I agree with you so much on. I am a mosquito magnet. They always bite me. Always.

Do they make ones I can wear around my neck for when I am out and about?

;)

I hosed myself down yesterday with OFF ... just to Cut the Grass :lamo

I needed two showers afterwards :2razz:

Monday was 116, Tuesday was 119, Wednesday was 116, Thursday was 113, today is going to be 112, weekend is 114 and 113.

Only good side from all of this heat is that it is necessary to usher in the monsoons...and we love the monsoons....even when our roofs are torn off from the wind....

I hate bug spray. Not as much as I hate being bitten all over so I use it, but it sucks.

That is the main reason I could not stand summers in Texas. At least there is a lot of air conditioning.

The good news is that my new A/C is great, and much more efficient, and I have managed to keep the pool running clear and clean so far...last year it was a cycle of clear, cloudy, green, cloudy, clear.

Although, when it is above 110 degrees, the pool basically feels like thicker air.

Must be the sugar content of your blood.

As for temperature, it's getting up to 83 here today.

The last couple of days have been around 115 here, but with almost zero humidity and a constant breeze, it really isn't that bad. Today it's supposed to dip back into the 90s.

We already had that happen this year. New roof is scheduled to be put on right after the 4th.

80-90 here. Low humidity. Blue skies. Going to warm up to the mid-high 90s this weekend, so I'll get my yard work done tonight and enjoy the weekend with a couple of cold hard ciders. Might even fire up my smoker
