Gripes About Summer

About a decade ago, in winter, we drove through the Temblor Range, from Bakersfield to SLO. I was absolutely amazed at how green and colorful it was. Usually we did this in summer, when all we see is a sea of brown.

Calamity

Yea with the rain we had this past season it was beautiful green for a while.. It goes brown fast..

So this is what's going on in Phoenix. I lived there for twelve years and a friend of mine sent me this gif...

I just remember that in the beginning of summer, people were fine with the early 100 degree days but by the end of summer, after countless back to back 100+ degree days, everybody just seemed so pissed off and everyone had a short fuse by sometime in October.

Just got back to Santa Fe today after a week and a half in Nashville, TN and Asheville, NC. It's pretty warm here today at 84 degrees. Most people here don't have A/C including myself.

Just last night I was talking to some folks about how we must have been out here too long if we can tell the difference between 116 degrees and 114 degrees...and say with a straight face stuff like "at least it's not as hot as yesterday".

When I lived in Phoenix and it was in the 110 and up range, then it'd drop to just under 110, everybody would start talking about the cold snap.

It is so ****ing hot down here. Seriously.

Everytime I go outside I can't concentrate. The heat sucks.

Had a 4 hour layover in Houston once. Girlfriend and I thought we'd go out and look for a nice place to eat and possibly walk around a bit. About 10 feet from the door we got hit in the face by dead, humid air. We looked at each other for about half a second and turned around without even discussing it.

Yep, it is the humidity that gives us those ridiculous "fells like" temperatures. Today's forecast here is 103 and, unlike you, I work mostly outside.

Couldn't do that. I would have sweat running into my eyes.

It gets bad here, but we usually have a sea breeze that calms it to the 'barely tolerable' level. I'm in the north part of the state. The south and inland are horrible.

Is it the humidity? How about the heat? Or, maybe you're biggest bitch about summer is just having to work inside on beautiful days. Whatever it is. Please share.

My peeve are fruit flies. I eat a lot of fruit at my desk. And, apparently I am a bit messy about it because this time of year there are usually a dozen fruit flies buzzing around my head.

I think I'll go get a wet paper towel and wash my desktop. There must be sticky residue somewhere near that their little noses are picking up on.

I can take the heat here ( Middle California) We have very little if any humidity,, What I hate is how brown and dead everything gets around here.

Northern California finally cooled off. Ah, I think I made it through the heat and smog quite well. Time for work...

I hate being hot and humid, I made this DIY AC for my off grid camp when it gets ridiculously uncomfortable.

I used to love heat and humidity when I was young and doing stuff outside. And, I rarely ran the AC in my car or home. Now, I turn on the A/C in both when it gets over 75. I still don't mind it too much when I'm outside though.
