Question for left-handers only: When using a mouse for your computer, do you do it with your left hand or your right hand?

I am not left-handed, but we are stocking an office with cubicles and half are mirrored layouts and don't really lend themselves to right-handed "mousing". I *suspect* that most left-handers mouse with their right hands, but I don't know that, and I'd like to get an idea.

Lefty. I use my right hand.

I am left-handed and mouse with my right hand. I pretty much do everything with my right hand but write and eat.

Cubicles that don't lend themselves to right-handed mousing does not sound optimal, my friend.

Righty but used my right so much on a mouse I can't do that without pain any more. As I understand it most lefties adjusted to the right-dominant world, sadly..and they use right for mouse. I think they would be more productive with the dominant hand. I switched some 10 years ago, and I never reached the peak that I was able to do with my right.

So I use left hand mouse. Since then, yes, I've always used mirrored mice. logitech m318e right now. It's not perfect but I've been through a lot of expensive and cheap mice and everything in between. Always on the lookout for better :)

For people that do use left and find that various software and games won't let you remap mouse buttons properly (rage @lazy developers!!), X-mouse button control is free and seems to override all software I've used, properly.

I use my right hand. I never had to adapt to it, it was always how I did it.

Left handed, but use my right hand to mouse. It is a right handed world, we learn to adopt or go crazy trying to be contortionist.

ambidextrous, using the left hand for the mouse.

They make left handed mice, and if you use windows the left handed mouse feature has been in use since windows 95

I use my right hand. I'd had an office computer for several years when an IT guy came into my office, noticed that I'm left-handed, and said, "You do know that you could have the mouse on the left, don't you?" Well, no, I didn't.

But I tried it for a few minutes. And had him switch the mouse back. Too late; I was already too accustomed to where it was.

That's okay, though. I'm used to accommodating myself to an oppressive right-handed world.:twisted::twisted:

Did you know that lefties are likely to die nine years earlier than righties? Doubtless because of the aggravation!

I use a mouse with whichever hand happens to pick it up. I'm left handed.

I haven't used a hard wired mouse or keyboard for years. Unless there is a reason, I'd use a wireless mouse and keyboard. And printer connection for that matter.

I'm using a wireless mouse, but the mousepad is on the right.

Just how left-handed are you? I and my two little sisters are/were left-handed, but one of us became very ambidextrous and taught herself how to deal cards right-handed (hmmmpf, to show off!) and etc. I am very left-handed/right-brained, but as I say, lefties do learn early how to adjust to the oppressive right-handed world.

I'm naturally left handed, but like many lefties I have learned to make adjustments when it is in my best interest. Golfing and shooting to name two are more expensive for a leftie. I can use either side equally well, which translates to very good (shooting), or terrible (golfing).

My first computer was inconvenient to operate left handed, so I used it right handed.

I also bat right handed.

Did batting right-handed seem more comfortable to you, or were you encouraged to learn this way? I tried both ways and was lousy at both, LOL.

Just more comfortable. Strangely, batting is one of the few things I can't do both ways.

I was never encouraged to favor one hand over the other although when I was in elementary school (I'm 79), lefties were forced to write right handed by some teachers.

I am right handed, my wife left.
We use the mouse with our left hands. Took no time to adapt for me.

I got a small taste of what that must be like when I went to Britain and had to shift gears with my left hand. It was still awkward after three weeks.

I can't even imagine driving on the left side of the road.

As for accommodation, most right-handers never think about, for example, how complicated doors can be. Those doors with the bar across that you push to open? I instinctively push the wrong end of the bar. Double doors? If one door is locked in an office hall, guess which one it always is?

Sadly, this still happens. And I do remember getting in trouble in elementary school for sitting cross-legged and hunching over my "right-handed" desk. This was seen as a "disciplinary problem" until my dad went up to school and solved that problem.

I can't do that, I type too fast for wireless to keep up with.

I know exactly what you mean. It took me quite a while to adapt to right hand drive - more than three weeks. It didn't take me nearly so long to learn to shoot a pistol left handed. I assumed shifting gears left-handed would be as easy. I was wrong.

I'M right-handed. I just tell my mouse what to do (in a British accent, of course).
