Anyone who has been on a commercial airliner lately, knows that people try to load everything in their 'carry-on' bag. Now TSA complains that they cannot properly screen the bag due to it being packed to the bursting point. Seems like the airlines and TSA need to get together and work up a solution. The European carriers are much better at check-in as they advise passengers that if the carry-on will not fit into a mock-up frame that it will need to be checked. Flying is about as enjoyable as Greyhound/Trailways travel. The buses may have more leg-room!
The airlines are sucking every available dollar out of travelers while posting record profits! Gonna have to pay to go, pretty soon.

I don't know. I am in Europe and the prices for flying have come down considerably over the past 10 years.

Im a frequent flyer as in twice a week every week. I get my luggage stowed free as a courtosey service for my patronage but i see whats going on firsthand.

Airlines are dqueezing their passanger with some very hefty luggage fees. Delta charges $25 per bag for the 1st 2 and $125 if you have 3 or more. All bags must be less than 50lbs or there is an additional charge for that too.

Because of those fees people are pushing the carry pn rules to there limits along with what the TSA will allow as carry on. I see it all the time and the screwy thing is on full flights which is most of them because they overbook most of the time. They typically announce that due to limited overhead spacing they are offering complimentry luggage stowing for anyone interested.

I have missed connecting flights because if how long it takes people to gather their bags out of the overhead and get off the plane.

Good luck complaining to your carrier they simply do not care. Flying is nothing like it was 25yrs ago.

From some of your replies to posts, Europe is a good place for you, apply for citizenship!

Can you blame them? Seriously.

What else do they expect to happen when they add checking fees in order to post lower ticket prices?

Most people are stupid, but not that stupid. Of course they'll try to get away with oversized carry-ons.

In addition to this it's also the convenience issue. If I fly with only a carry-on, I don't have to worry as much about my luggage getting damaged or stolen. And I don't have to wait an extra 15-20 minutes at each end of the flight for my bag to show up.
