I love them, even when they're not actually funny in a creative sense. In fact, it's kind of the ****ty ones that are the most funny.
I think it's okay because I'm not laughing at the tragedy.
I'm laughing at the idea of laughing at the tragedy. It's not the jokes, it's the idea that someone would even make a joke like that at all. That's what's funny.
I came up with all sorts of Sandy Hook jokes. I started working on a big list of them as soon as I heard the news of it.
My favorite is... "The school was supposed to be using books, but instead all they got were magazines"... The joke is that magazines are the clips used in assault rifles. It's funny because the gun used to massacre all these children was an AR-15. And that uses a magazine.
Schools use books, not normally magazines. So the joke is a play on words with books/magazines, and the magazines used in the shooting.
'Christina Grimmie was another one, I'd never heard of her before the shooting, so I had a pretty hard time. Most of my jokes weren't funny. Really simple ones like "I bet that show was a blast"
You see, the joke is that "blast" can be used as a synonym for a good time, but also the sound a gun makes. It's funny because play on words.
But boy did I bring my A game in Orlando. I waited no time at all... I bet they were still cleaning up bodies by the time I made my first joke.
What do you call a mass shooting of homosexuals?
A "Heyyy"te crime.
It's funny because sterotypical gay men say "Heyyyy" and the shooting was a hate crime. So I combined them "Heyyy"te crime...
I was like, "How didn't they escape? Didn't this gay club have a "backdoor"..
50 people died.
I get a kick out of unoriginal/uncreative ones too.
I think the reason why is because when the joke is bad (not offensive, but unfunny) it just makes the whole thing seem more "Cheap" and "Crude" and that makes me laugh in it's own sense.
It's funny cause it's like... so not funny. So the ****tier the joke, the more shameless it comes across.
It's not the jokes themselves, it's the idea of the jokes. This is why the jokes don't need to be well written, since the humor comes from the fact that they exist at all
