What are you living for?

Maybe in cities that's been true, but a 90% urbanization rate is not the norm for this country's history.
Uh, dood....you ARE setting up an argument about an urbanized household, that is YOUR context.

Perhaps the conclusion to draw from this is that fewer of us should be living in large cities.

If you just think I'm here to "bitch" then you're really not getting the thread. You're missing the point.
I 'm still waiting for a point. I'm waiting for a coherent argument. You complain that you are not making enough to satisfy yer minimalist life, yet you reject moving up via education. You live in one of the most expensive areas of the country, but you want a low cost lifestyle. You conflate "culture" with economics. You expect traditionalism without understanding whut that means. You sit around posting all day....instead of working OR spending time with wife and child. That is yer "culture", apparently.

Good grief

LOL....says the guy living in the LA area...confusing "culture" for economics.

Yer starting to sound like the Khmer Rouge.

How do you know that I'm not working right now? You assume a lot about me.

Are you in this thread just to pester me? Seriously, what are you getting out of this?

LOL...if yer post'in in a debate forum....all frigging day....you might be "at" work, but you ain't working in any real sense of the word. You could be much more productive....this....is not.

I'm destroying another one of your arguments, I enjoy doing so. I enjoy taking people on, especially when they are talking about themselves because it kills 2 birds with one stone.

I had this thought the other day, that in the richest country on Earth, that you're expected to spend half of your waking hours at work while your children are raised by strangers and your home sits empty most of the day. Is this the best kind of existence that we've come to with our wealth? It just seems crazy to me. What is the point of this? So that we can afford a nicer house, and a nicer car? Is that really worth the time that we spend away from our families, our lack of time to rest, and neglecting our children? I'm not blaming the parents or saying that they're being cruel to their children, but that this is what our culture seems to expect. How did this happen? And is anyone really happy with this?

I couldn't really think of a better forum for this, so what do you think? Are you satisfied with the expectations of our culture? Are you happy? What do you want out of life?
I think your being foolish dor meausure the value of your existence by what others think. Ignore them, think for yourself, make the choices that are in you and yours best interests

You are living for the judgement.
Look your born you didn't ask to be here. If your lucky your born to a stable family. You then grow up and hope you raise a better generation then yours. Then you die. It's all a big nothing. Just be kind to others and do what makes you happy within the law.
Great post
