Loading The Dishwasher

In Dish Washer is OK if the handles are stainless steel.....likewise pots and pans.

if ALL metal, is safe, otherwise the non-metal parts start looking nasty.

Dishwasher soap is nasty stuff, as are many household chemicals, keep all that crap locked up.

do not put anodized aluminum pots and pans in the dishwasher

If you were a socialist you would never defend trump as you do. You are trump apologist afraid to admit your allegence to trump. Don't blame you I wouldn't want to admit allegence to that 4th grade twit as well but you are a trump apologist true and true.

It's through and through.

Correct, thanks...
I have found old, but still very clean, anodized aluminum pots in thrift stores....
so SOME of us know how to make a set of cookware last a long time.

My favorite "old" stuff is MiracleMaid stainless inside, anodized AL outside...

Handles down, except for knives :)

Everything goes in handles up. I am uncomfortable with someone unloading the utensils by grabbing them by the business end. It is probably a germaphobe thing, but seeing handles down gives me the creeps. :)

I only consider it work when I have to fix the way it's been loaded. Yes, I am OCD with that. :)
You have a valid point. It got to the point where I asked my wife to just stay away from the dishwasher. As she walked away saying: "Fine, if that's what you want, you got it.", it dawned on me that I may have just got played.

it says we have first world problems while 90% of the rest of the world walk a mile for clean water

I HATE unloading, and it's knife handles up, and all of the rest are handles down

and yes if my stemware is short crystal goes through...screw it, what good is a glass if it must be hand washed

It sounds like you can cut yourself.

We sometimes put the pressure cooker in the dishwasher. The thing is impossible to get clean.

I have heard that. Don't put pots, pans, bakeware, or knives in the dishwasher.

do not put anodized aluminum pots and pans in the dishwasher, it will removed the coating

do not put high quality knifes in the dishwasher, knifes which are forged high carbon steel

I'm torn between that and water and any residue end up on the end I eat with.

I don't think so, knife handles are up which means that the blades are down and all of the rest are handles down :)

might get stabbed by a fork though

Oh, I miss understood. I just put in which ever way it lands.

I believe that your 90% figure is in error but ya, we are spoiled.
it may be too high but yes we have a very good life style...spoiled ...I don't know...I love my dishwasher, it's an appliance I would miss if it were gone

I was born 1962 AFTER domestic life had be so delabored by tech that women tended to get bored and neurotic, but I did not see a dishwasher till 1968, and now simply loading and unloading the damn thing is considered work work (styled after Whoopi's "Rape, rape" comment) by many. Wow.
truth be told, I am okey dokey loading it but I loath unloading it... same with the clothes dryer...I hate putting clean things away...but I don't mind loading the dirty dishes and clothes

This popped into my head the other day as I was loading, I have an inkling there there are some fairly profound insights revolving around this related to technology and the changes of the rhythm of life caused by our adopting it.
I believe you are correct to a degree

I do however value my free time and seem to have no problem filling it. I am not of the opinion that work (chores) are a necessity in my daily life in order to maintain my balance

Maybe too it makes us soft, I have over they years largely come to the conclusion that the easy life is not generally a quality life,
nor is the life filled with drudgery though

"use it or lose it" often applies, and boredom is pretty much cancer much of the time.
I have just begun the watching the series Downton Abbey...I think I could easily enjoy that gentrified lifestyle but then everything took so long....just taking the carriage to the village and back likely took the afternoon

But instead of doing that work I have time to come to DP to argue and thus think, and have time to read and consume the rest of the arts which brings great quality to my life, so this is great for me right?
I believe so...the WASPish we must always be working attitude is one we have inherited...I am good with having lots of time on my hands

I am conflicted, I have great amounts of quality in my very easy life, but I am not at all sure that this is the norm.
I believe it is the norm for most people over 50...what one does with it is the measure of good vs bad

but then too...that is subjective as well

Brings to mind Hunter S Thompson:

“I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me.”
lol...and in the end, yes it is all about what works for a being...

Oh, I miss understood. I just put in which ever way it lands.

aaaaaaaaaaah, yes, well mine go into a basket and the basket has various size holes for the flatware thus mine doesn't give me much option...I liked the one dishwasher I looked at when purchasing this last one...it had 3 layers, bottom for dishes, top for dishes and then one more for cutlery and utensils...but I was unwilling to pay
$400.00 more, I am too cheap

and lucky us....we have the option

first world choices. ;)

As the world crumbles around us, as the dark age deepens....pure joy I cant very often manage anymore due to circumstances beyond my control.

But I will say this, I am so glad that I pursued education hard and early, and that I stayed curious. My parents were not the best and one set of grandparents were just so-so, but the other made sure that I had some sense of what matters, early in life.

I am "First World" regardless of what others fail to do, and I am grateful for companions.

I am very greatful.

Gratitude is my current "self-focus"

I am at the end of my working life with five more years to go and I have switched to a "helping job" in spite of losing 20 grand a year in pay. I was in the business world for years and I learned much and I loved going to work everyday.

But switchng was not a difficult choice because I need to know that what I do on a daily basis matters in someones day and beyond. I have always tried to live my life that way and in the moment because tomorrow never comes for many.

A parent said to me the other day when we were discussing "gratitude" that her preacher had said in his sermon that week that "everything that comes from our mouth is either life affirming or death causing." I had to reflect upon that and I have decided it works well with my belief system and philosophy of life....I am working on being "life affirming" when I speak and looking directly into someone's eyes enough to be able to identify their colour later.

It has been a good experience for me.

My dishwasher is something I am grateful for daily

"shrug" silly maybe, but it works for me. ;)
