I did it for a few years, but I had to stop because I had surgery. I am excited, because I am thinking of doing it again. I will have time too, because I start a new job in a few weeks. :):2razz::cool:

Has anybody else here ever done it, seen it, or like it??

Sorry, I don't find it interesting.

Then again I don't find watching other people dance in general interesting.

This includes ballet, tap, modern...whatever; so what do I know?

Yep. Used to go watch shows in Longbeach.

I think it is a form of art, most skilled dancing is, some just do not get it, kinda like Opera for many. Great physical therapy to boot. Enjoy.

There used to be a Middle Eastern restaurant here in Pasadena with an outdoor courtyard. They would regularly set up a stage and have live music and belly dancers, and it added to the atmosphere.

It can be extremely offensive to the senses.

I agree. That wasn't very good, but I wouldn't call that exactly bellydancing either...

Did you know that the most famous person to use belly dance moves is Shakira?

You have seen her dance?

Have a friend who's wife does it, and she's very good, but I've also seen lousy ones.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see a performance, but I can recognize it as art when it's done really well.

If you can express yourself that way, DO IT.

The caps are because my personal artistic vent is no longer physically possible for me, and I really, really miss it.

The young lady I took care of LOVES belly dancing. What style did you do in specific? It's an artform that is dying in the regions where it originated... but being kept alive in the USA.

Yes, I like belly dancing.

I'm with you there. I can't dance at all. I did take ball room dancing as part of a military etiquette class, and pediatrists across the country celebrated briefly.
