Goddamnit. I'm getting all sorts of good luck today. Looks like we've got yet another tornado warning for our area, till 11:00 AM.

Let's just hope it is precautionary.

FYI, The weather underground radar has a base radial velocity selection, that lets you see
where the greatest potential for a tornado is.

The closer the + and - velocities are physically together, the greater the chances.

Warnings here too!

That system blasted through here about 230 in the morning. Great light show, lots of rain, next round is late Saturday for San Antonio, early Sunday for ya'll.

Tornado warning generally means funnel cloud cited.

I spend 2nd-8th grade in a suburb of Cincinatti. Not quite tornado ally, but we spent quite a few nights in the basement bedroom/shelter with tornado warnings. I found it particularly uncool to wait for potential random destruction. I'd much rather have a direct threat in front of me and take my chances.

I really don't want to live in any such natural disaster prone area again, whether it's tornadoes or quakes or regular wildfires.

I grew up in and spent most of my adult life squarely in the so-called Tornado Alley region of the country and we endured it all--sand storms that could almost peel the skin off you, flash floods, hail big enough to go through the shingles into the attic, extreme damaging winds, wild fires that no horse, let alone human, could outrun, and yes, plenty of tornadoes over the years.

And I hated those tornado watches and warnings just as you do, even after years and years of experience with it.

..and another reason I love living in Central Oregon - we don't get very many tornadoes up here. Once in a great while we'll get a little funnel cloud or the occasional mini-tornado, but it's pretty rare (makes the front page when it happens). They've had a few in The Valley in recent years, but on the good side of the state, we're pretty safe from such stuff.

Tornados are the state bird of texas, be glad it is not the mosquito like liousiana, those mosquitos are so big they eat larger birds.

Those warnings are bad actually, we had many in central texas that never had a warning or watch, and the weathermen denying they happened and giving excuses on why a city street was demolished, and how that youtube video was not a tornado.

The most notable was a storm day in central texas I was at a guard meeting, showed up to the armory early, and I was watching funnel clouds forming all around, many got about half way but none touched, no agency gave a single warning that day. The second was the tornado outbreak like 2 years ago, no warning except inclimate weather.

We got our first tornado warning after one touched down and started tearing up pidcoke, then later they hit belton, temple, and mcgregor.

Have you considered the possibility that mother nature is telling you that you're supposed to live somewhere else?

I do not think tornados deter people, if they did they would only have greenland and antarctica to live in. Outside the us britain canada australia and india have tornados with a frequency as well, with india being the capital outside the us, britain has had quite a few as well.

When I lived in cali tornados were also frequent, just because some areas are more prone, does not mean you are safe elsewhere. In houston however you are probably 10 times more likely to die from a flood than a tornado, and infinite times more likely to die after being carjacked at gunpoint(yes houston crime can be that bad, it is damn near the chicago of texas)
