My job is finalized, and our house in DC is up for sale.
Been down here for about 3 weeks now, and omg, what a difference in lifestyles.
Long story made shorter....the owner in DC sold the business, and my position was being replaced. I was being paid while I trained my replacement, and I could also seek new employment at the same time. I interviewed by phone for a number of spots, Skyped for a few, and then, eventually was flown in for face to face interviews on a couple of those.
It came down to a choice for me between Orlando and Abilene Tx. I had solid offers from both, and my wife and I weighed the pluses and minuses trying to decide which one suited us best. We chose Abilene, and so far, so great. The pace of life is here is so much slower, and the people are incredibly nice. We will miss some of the nice restaurants and places, but Dallas is just a couple hours away.
And the cost of living here.....my wife is having a ball shopping for her new house with her new budget. 400k here goes a long long way......
So to all the Texans on the board, howdy neighbors
But what is it with the winds? Are they like this all the time?
