How important is "Good morning"?

I know people who seem to almost get offended if you do not say "good morning" to them. You can say "hello", or some other greeting with a friendly tone, but that's not good enough. It must be "good morning". Thoughts?

Goes for both an initial greeting and as a response to their greeting first.

Sounds like you have some very uptight people around you.

I like to mix it up..."How are you?" "Howz it hangin'" "Haven't seen you in a month of Sundays"

Mostly is a "Mournin"

You know, I really can't ever recall coming across anyone who is offended when I say good morning to them. I work with one guy who never says good morning. It's either Good moaning or Allo Allo. It never gets old, and I smile every time, even though he's been doing it for a few years.

There's nothing worse than going in to work and being met by a grumpy person. It just brings you down before you've even started your day.

I have never heard of that.

Any form of greeting is fine.

In a society where sam colt equalized everyone politeness is important but honesty is more important.

It happens too often some moron gets offended and attacks an armed citizen and ends up on boot hill.

It baffles me the environment obama helped exacerbate where its cool to attack police.

Then get outraged when the obvious happens.

Civility is pretty important when one can end up dead by not being civil.

I usually just say, "Hi. How are you?"

What kind of person gets offended by someone not saying "good morning"?

Man, that is weird.

 Thank goodness someone knew what I was talking about. I wasn't sure if US posters would be familiar with the show and get what he was saying!

My thought is 'good' and 'morning' are mutually exclusive.

If I know somebody as petty as that, they would never get a Good Morning, just out of spite.

You should try living in a multicultural country Where the main politcal radio station rnz, has to say good morning several times in each language. So when they greet you in the morning they say, goodmorning, Ata marie, nga mihi o te ata, moata roa, morena.
