Terri Sewell - 1st Black valedictorian of Selma High School; attended Princeton, Harvard Law and Oxford; 1st Black Congresswoman elected in Alabama.

Andre Carson - 2nd Black Muslim Congressman, after Keith Ellison, elected to Congress.

Jackie Speier - accompanied Rep. Leo Ryan in 1978 to Guyana to confront Rev. Jim Jones. A gun battle ensued. Rep. Ryan lost his life. Ms. Speier survived five bullet wounds. The incident became known as The Jonestown Massacre. Roughly 900 people committed suicide.

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen - has an adult child that transgendered from female to male.

Chris Steward - while in the Air Force, led a flight team in setting the fastest non-stop flight around the world.

Joaquin Castro - graduated Stanford and Harvard Law. Has an an identical twin, Julian, who served as San Antonio Mayor 2009-14 and Hud Secretary for Obama 2014-17.

Will Hurd - 1st Black Republican elected to Congress from Texas; former student body President at Texas A&M.

Elise Stefanik - she earned a coveted Woman's Leadership Award at Harvard. In 2014, age 30, she became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress.

You didn't know that about her?

Well, I lived near SF at the time and of course it was HUGE news there.

I read up on jonestown a long time ago and also saw some documentaries but I couldn't recall the name of the players involved.
