You know that saying, fact is stranger than fiction, well it rings true here.

I guarantee if you can stomach the length of this article you will not be disappointed, it is one of the most interesting things you will have read in quite some time, a story of Elite Chinese politics, sex, money, power and murder.

Un. ****ing. Believable.

Yep, utterly insane, as were all the players in this multi-generational drama. My head is now spinning.

Let's make it spin even more. There was the rumor that Gu Kaila had a body double to get through the trial and take the punishment. That's widespread in CHina https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ding_zui

Greetings, DiAnna: :2wave:

:agree: All I can say is :wow: and if possible, I hope to be able to follow GuaGua's life path into his future where he will be mainly dealing with enemies of his family!

Really great read... reality is stranger than fiction. I've read so many stories like it over the years coming out of China. The things that the upper political world gets embroiled in blow the mind. Kind of makes me feel sorry for them a little bit... they spend all their lives pursuing power and money, only to die eventually. What's the point? I guess my values are just different.

This part of the article made me laugh out loud

The manager tells me to put my questions about Neil Heywood's death - to Neil Heywood.

“How can I talk to Neil Heywood when he's dead?” I ask.

He laughs and tells me to go to hell to look for Neil Heywood there.

If the woman I saw in the courtroom is the same woman in all those pics with Bo, I will kiss a camel on its fat, slobbery lips.

Here's one for you. Look at the pictures of John Gotti Jr at the trial, and then the picture of him in prison, just before he died on cancer.

Fascinating.

Reads like a script for Game of Thrones.

Definitely a different values system.

I imagine these sort of people would look at us and say "They spend all their lives just working and never gain wealth or power, never be a big shot or found a dynasty, and then they just die... what's the point?"

Some of it is undoubtedly due to the uncertainty of life in Red China, where you are either clawing your way up by any means necessary, or else living in abject poverty at the mercy of anyone with any power... and how quickly one's status and lifestyle can change, usually for the much-worse.

Makes people desperate and promotes dirty pool and dire deeds.

External appearances are one thing, but what's going on inside of people is another. From the outside looking in we are all pretty mundane, going about our statuos quo daily lives. But who knows what's going on inside?

I'll never know the full story but these powerful people all have complicated family histories tied up in big business and politics. They are glamored by it and can't see beyond it, much like every day people who are are glamored by the media and entertainment.

Yup. I think part of it may lie in the family history thing... a sense of entitlement, of being born to be more than ordinary, leading to a mindset that anyone who gets in their way is an enemy of their "destiny" and deserves to be dealt with in any way necessary.

My values in life are very spiritually informed and so it doesn't matter to me if someone is rich and powerful or poor and agentless, we all have distractions and obstacles which prevent us from seeing our true nature. It makes me wonder what God has planned for these people making big bids for power... what lessons are they here to learn? I guess what I'm trying to say is: we can't take anything with us when we die other than our own spirit, so it's hard to say what real progress is. I look at these powerful people and wonder what level of distraction they deal with in their daily lives, as well as the level of temptation. I say this without any righteousness, just truth: I would not want their life if I were offered to switch places!

Yes, yet some just give it away.

I wouldn't want the life.

But I'll take the money.
