CNN guest calls CNN fake news

looks to me like Don Lemon did his job. he didn't let the "fake news" dodge / talking point slide, and pinned down the guest on it pretty effectively.

You can't make this stuff up . . .

Yep.

"Explain why this is fake news," and then of course he interrupts and talks over the guest, then lectures him...all the while saying he will give the guest a chance.

Then cuts him off again immediately and ends the interview. Typical CNN "reporting." :coffeepap:

Wow, Don Lemon handled that really poorly.

Well, I suppose that's one way to look at it.

To others, shutting the guy off and never really letting him speak again while insulting and attacking is just more evidence of CNN's extreme bias and fraud filled efforts.

A professional doing his job would have allowed the guy to make the comment and remained calm, moving on to the next of the 4 guests.

Instead, the idiot blows a gasket and proves what people are saying about CNN.

This stupidity is gonna carry on for the next few months so CNN should brace itself.

i assume that you and others in this thread feel the same way about Sean Hannity when he shouts down guests.

The reason I posted this is because the guy was a guest on the show and I found it amusing that their own GUEST thought the story was fake news. Had the host let him finish, I think he was making another kind of point. But he lost his cool and cut the guy off.

What they were talking about was not fake news in and of itself. But their panel was editorializing and opinionating. It was NOT broadcasting a news story. I'm fairly certain that's what the guy meant. Instead of the host flipping, he should have let his invited guest finish his thought.

Very poor host.

Don Lemon is pretty good as hosts go. if i were a journalist, i probably wouldn't let the "fake news" dodge slide, either. for example, i've pinned down people online concerning science / peer review when they intentionally misrepresent it and / or demonstrate a lack of understanding.

Not much of a Hannity fan. Not because I don't like the guy, but I just don't watch his show.

Can't speak for others. I don't like any moderator shouting down a guest.

Of course, there is a bit of grey area there, as many guests on these talk shows have no intent on addressing the questions asked, and are only interested in getting out whatever it is they want to say. In those cases, I think getting in their face a bit might be called for.

i get that. i didn't like Hannity's show even when i was a right winger. i did listen to Limbaugh and Beck, though.

I listened to Rush for a number of years, but I haven't listened to him for some time.

I never really listened to Beck. However, I will admit that he inspired me to really dive into the nature of politics and affiliations. Someone talked about all the connections between groups, and I seriously doubted what I learned Beck was saying. So I went on a quest myself.

Everything Beck said was true. I spent hundreds of hours pouring over annual reports, content, actions, etc., etc.. Kind of became an obsession.

Today, I think Beck has lost his mind. But I do tip my hat to him for inspiring me to learn about Maurice Strong, George Soros, the Tides Foundation, etc, etc.., all members working in concert for what I call the Progressive Machine.

People should be very concerned with it's existence and objective.

The whole fake news claims from Trump is addressed quite effectively by McCain in this response to "Meet the Press"

More than half of what we hear on CNN, MSNBC, FOX et al is most DEFINITELY fake news. It's opinion. It's scripted entertainment. It is NOT news. Other than insinuating that Donald Trump is a danger, I agree with his thoughts about the importance of a free press.

And we have one.

Beck had a decent radio show, and i listened to it for years on the drive to work. if i recall correctly, he called the crash before it happened. then he got a couple TV shows and went insane. hope that he is doing ok now. he always seemed like a smart dude, so i wouldn't doubt it.

The host didn't handle it well but I think he had the facts behind him. The guest asserted that the whole story was fake news but the only reason he gave was that the President hadn't broken any laws. Nobody suggested that he had and it certainly wasn't all there is to the topic they were meant to be discussing. The hosts definition of "fake news" was fairly reasonable and doesn't seem to apply. \the guest got his second chance to speak but started off on exactly the same talking point.

I think this is just another example of the term "fake news" being abused to avoid answering any difficult questions.

After watching the vid clip, I can't come to the same conclusion because the guest was never allowed to explain his point.

I think the guy would have pointed out that this panel was not reporting news. It was there to dissect, second-guess, entertain and opinionate. That is NOT reporting news. And maybe the host knew that's where he was going and had no counterpoint. Because had the guy said that? He would have been right.

Is Don Lemon a commentator or a newsman?

There is a difference

Many of us recognize that difference....Hannity, Rush, and most of the talk show types are commentators...with lot s of opinions, and very little actual news

On some stations, I think those lines are blurred....

I think that is a lot of the problem.....commentary disguised as news.....

Not good for our populous which is already smitten with false personas all over the networks and cable channels

That is false. Lemon asked him if he knew what fake news was and the man said "what we are doing now" - which is a complete bull crap answer that means nothing except to the dog whistle folks.

Lemon handled the man perfectly.

Or not disguised at all, as in the case of Shep Smith's recent editorializing. And he is a newsman rather than a commentator.

Don Lemon has always seemed pretty reasonable to me. if someone told me that i was faking my job, you can bet your ass that i would hash that **** out. so would you.

Very poor host.

I sit at home and watch and nearly scream at the host to stop allowing these nut jobs to go on with their insanity and ream them out right on air and tell them they are NOT welcome back. He asked them an a direct question as to what FAKE NEWS was. And the man gave a complete bull crap answer - "its what we are doing right now". He should have been shot, drawn and quartered and then burned at the stake with what was left.

This right wing FAKE NEWS stuff needs to stop and anybody pushing this crap needs to be dealt with very harshly to make an example of them.
