Sad day to be an Independent in Florida. :(

State wipes out Independent Party of Florida - Orlando Sentinel

The Independent Party of Florida, founded in 1992, was stripped of its official status because it didn’t use a certified public accountant to audit its finances in 2014.
“I really don’t like the change going out without people being informed,” said Dierksen, who had to call the Orange CountySupervisor of Elections office to learn why she no longer belonged to the Independent Party. “Right now, with what’s going on with politics, I’m just suspicious of everything.”
Ernie Bach, chair of the party based in Largo, vowed to reapply with the state Division of Elections and have its status returned. But even if that happens, the party will have to rebuild its base of more than 260,000 members entirely from scratch.

I guess I should make some sort of outlandish claim of voter fraud now.

What, they have no records of who was a registered member? They can't send out a mailer?

The county sent me a letter with a new list of parties I can choose.

And once that party gets back on its feet, they can send you a letter telling you to re-select them, can't they?

Dunno. Sounds like a costly and difficult process.

They should have thought about that before they violated the rules, shouldn't they?

Somehow I doubt it would have been handled the same way if it had been the Democratic party or Republican party.

Somehow I doubt they would have made that kind of mistake.

Don't know if this counts as a "cat fish," or not, but when I was in college someone online started sending me really weird, random, messages. These generally took the form of bits of poems, and other random gibberish. The person eventually claimed that there was a code hidden in all of this (though I certainly didn't have the slightest clue how to confirm that one way or another), and that I should meet them at a local bar if I could figure it out. They provided an exact time and address, and specified what they would be wearing.

Needless to say, the fact that this person seemed to have a good idea of where I lived freaked me out (they might have even used my real name, though I can't remember for sure), so I didn't go. The messages stopped after that.

I have no idea who it could have been. A classmate playing a prank? A really esoteric attempt at a romantic come on? Some psycho with nefarious intent?

Who knows! I might have unwittingly blown my one opportunity to get recruited into the NSA/CIA/Men In Black/Human Resistance Against the Machines, for all it matters now.

That would be just my luck. Haha
