I am sure I made a thread about this a long while ago, but with the dam in cali experiencing issues and mass evacuation, I feel it is time to bring it up again.

People often do not prepare for anything, too often they associate being prepared with zombie apocalypse type. Being prepared is just that being prepared, just a simple bugout bag and planned exit strategies are often all that is needed for any disaster.

But to be prepared in simple terms in your pantry

Abundant water stores
preserved food canned freeze dried etc
food for multiple days without power
backup light source
backup heat source

For a bugout bag
3 days clothing
3 days food
3 days water
first aid kit
a multi tool
if you have it one firearm plus ammo, seriously do not take enough for a zombie apacolypse, you need it for self defense at best, think smart people.
Also thermal blankets and tents, they are dirt cheap and compact, make a great emergency setup.

But to the point of the thread, in an emergency, you may have to leave in a hurry, with little time to choose what you need, a bugout bag has the essentials to grab and go. If you find yourself in an emergency situation, often relying on supermarkets is the worst bet, as in any emergency they will be depleted by the first day. Stay safe and plan ahead, even pack extra as you may need to aid your neighbors aswell.

Add a few hundred feet of 550 cord, an e tool and a large tarp or two to the mix. Also, stuff to help start a fire. I keep some dryer lint in a baggie because it'll usually catch with a tiny spark.

And 200 dollars cash.

Just to add, besides the cali floods, the northeast is having a massive blizzard, all the more reason to be prepared.

If the disaster takes out the internet, I'm just going to let it come.
