Who is/was your favorite politician?

Mine was Ralph Nader. Ralph Nader is a tough SOB. He fought both parties and the auto industry in the 70's to make seatbelts mandatory. The amount of lives Ralph Nader has saved has sooo many commas.
Were it not for Nader (in Florida), we would have been spared the Worst President in history.
The world would be completely different, and probably better, right now.

From my understanding the Supreme Court gave us Bush so, Nader isn't responsible because Gore would have won FL. I understand it's a complicated situation. But, I generally disagree with the idea that if you're voting 3rd party it's a vote for the other side. That is psychological manipulation.

It's a tie between Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Ben Sasse.

non president - Governor John Peter Altgeld of Illinois

president - FDR

both stood for the common people against entrenched elites.

My fav is Lincoln because of the way his mind worked. He did everything for effect and calculate all possible outcomes.

In modern times it was Frank Church. A moderate (real moderate) republican who understood what was coming and tried to make the country wake up and see the facts. John Anderson was a pale copy.

FDR would be up there too no question

I liked Andrew Jackson. Less for what he did than how he did it. He was the first pol to pull the common man into political conversations. His results were mixed, and he gets a bad PC rap today, but he truly was the president who changed Washington.

If I hold any hope for Trump, it is that he be a bit more like Andrew and not just a con man pretending to be like him.

He is one my favorites as well. He was very popular in his day. He paid off the national debt.

Nobody. I do not respect or like modern politicians. I can't really judge anyone in the past, only those from today. All of them suck.

lincoln, F.D.R., and bernie sanders

If I had to pick one though, FDR.

FDR is up there. When people say single-payer is unconstitutional you can pretty much just say "FDR' and their precisely constructed argument that begins in the tenth amendment and ends with three simple letters: FDR.

I'm going with FDR too. I have to admit that I've always sort of admired Churchill too. Not so much for his policies, but for his resilience during the war.

As far as modern politicians go, I'd say Bernie Sanders.
