Those were awesome. I love old pictures and those actually taught me some things I didn't know.
But it begs the question: who knocked up the knocker up?
My mother recently found some old pictures that were my fathers. SHe had gone to my grandmother to find out what the pictures were right after my father passed, put them away, and forgot about them for 30 years.
One of the pictures was of my great great great great grandfather. Another was merely 3 times great (from a slightly different branch). Knowing who these old folks were, and knowing my relationship to them was rather neat.
My dad and his brother do the family genealogy and man oh man do we have some great old timey pics. Way back into the mid to late 1800's.
I wish I had more of them.. but the photos were a delight to find after I though my mother lost them for 30 years. I also had a picture of my great grandfathers sister. When I posted it on my facebook account, my uncle, who had never been interested in that sort of items when he was young said 'I didn't know he had a sister. She was a refugee that escaped Russia during the pogroms... via siberia to japan to the USA.
This is one I really get a kick out of.

Now... the woman on the left was my Great grandmother. I used to go visit her when we went up to see family. She lived to 98. Born in 1883 died in 1981. The lady on the far right is her sister... my great, great aunt. She was living with her when we'd go visit. She lived to 103. The lady 2nd from the right is there mother. And the lady sitting down in black is her mother. So we are talking about people in this picture dating back to early 1800's. I like seeing all that lineage in one photo.

Generation photos are great. I have a couple of four generation photos....my mum (born in 1927 and passed away in 2012, myself, my son and daughter and their four daughters).
Thanks for this. Some great photos. I am curious so do you know why the bottom of the prison is painted white? Any particular reason you know of?
