Now, if your response is along the lines of, "Why would I care about some celebrity?", then you should consider taking yourself elsewhere as this thread is not for your selfish cold-hearted self, bless your heart.

Anyway, there were several big names that passed away this year, i.e.: David Bowie, George Michael, Glenn Frey, Alan Rickman, and so on, but the one that affected me more than the rest was Prince. I felt he was a true musical genius.

Alan Rickman. He was so ****ing great in the Harry Potter movies.

...and now he's gone. :(

i'm sorry to see any of them pass. Prince and Alan Rickman dying sucked pretty badly, as did the others. Rest in peace.

Sports - Muhammad Ali

Cinema - Christopher Lee

Music - Prince

Ali dwarfed everyone else.

Non of them really. I don't hold a reverence for celebrities. I watch their movies and listen to their music, but other than that they are just people that I don't know personally.

Tough one. Probably Gene Wilder.

He was a wonderful actor, indeed.

Greetings, radcen. :2wave:

He made a great living by portraying a character most people didn't like! I didn't like his character in Die Hard either! Weird, but interesting choice of roles to play!.

Arnold Palmer was right up there with Ali. So was Gordie Howe.

Lemmy and Bowie were both tougher to take than Prince and Merle Haggard was a tougher shot than either of those

John Glenn was a hard one to take

He did, indeed. Another one who does an awesome job at playing unlikable characters is Kiefer Sutherland.

Leonard Cohen. Not so much as a performer, but as a songwriter he was as close to unequalled as anyone.

Alan Thicke because of how he died, playing hockey with his son.

Leonard Cohen really hit me hard.

But then again, I lost my mom this year so all paled in comparison to her passing.

Thank you for that correction.

Hey, he was a great artists. That loss could still be felt a year and a half later. He was one of the greatest character-villains of all time.

His work for Hammer was terrific and he added a great deal of gravitas to the character of Saruman in the Middle-earth films.
