Jerry Lewis Makes Reporter Squirm in Cringeworthy Interview

I was never a Jerry Lewis fan, I never found him funny. I like sitcoms and comedy, but I never liked the slapstick comedy of Lewis, the 3 stooges, Jim Carrey, etc. Personal preference I guess.

Anyway I've heard many times over the decades that Lewis was kind of an asshole.
I do like slapstick. I do like the Stooges. Carey is mostly good. But I never cared for Lewis' comedy, either.

I have also heard before that he's an asshole, for many years, though I have also heard that it's increasing with age.

I hate you.

Every time we get into a conversation and I have to Google your insinuations, I wind up shaking my head.

Stop that ****. Cripe.

You are a better person for knowing these things.

Trust me.:2razz:

No, I am creeped out - there are some things I just don't need to know.

It hurts my brain.

I watched the interview on Monday at the Hollywood Reporter and also followed a couple of links. Here is what the LA Times had to say, and the article includes a vid clip:

The infamously ornery comic’s extremely awkward new interview with the Hollywood Reporter has gone viral due to Lewis’ testy answers and obvious disinterest. Earlier this year, Lewis sat down with The Times’ Mark Olsen for a somewhat friendlier chat, on the eve of the release of "Max Rose," Lewis’ first starring role in more than two decades. Despite admitting to being difficult, Lewis gave thoughtful answers to some questions — in between death stares. Here's what happens when Jerry Lewis isn't so hostile in an interview - LA Times

My father had to work with Lewis every year and detested him. He would never say a word except "asshole," but after watching the Hollywood Reporter interview, I finally understood why and sent the link to my little sister. So that's why. What an ass.

I believe he falls into that category of Jekyll and Hyde. A Jekyll and Hyde being a person who is vastly different in moral character from one situation to the next.

I know there is this tendency to give him slack for being 90+ but I have known family members as well as others who were 90+ and don't remember them being assholes. I think too often people who have been assholes their whole lives get a pass for it when they get old.

I didn't think the reporter was rude at all but trying to salvage the interview the best he could. I feel sorry for Lewis's caretakers. Can only imagine the crap they have to take from him.

Well, yes--think of the "spastic" characters he played and his later muscular dystrophy initiative.
