What Are Your Plans for Thanksgiving?

All the kids will be here. The kids started going off to college 9 years ago and we have always had them all back but since the youngest is about to start his Army career and the oldest is now in relationship and the middle one has a long list of grievances against her family this is expected to be the last year this happens for awhile. THe oldests mate is vegetarian so we will add walnut encrusted salmon this year.

Turkey smoked on the weber
dripping gravy
oyster stuffing (new this year)
Apple sage stuffing
mashed
corn
Green beans
yams
pureed squash
oysters gratin
rolls/butter
fresh cranberry sauce
pie

We do the same thing every year though this year we are subbing apple pie for the pumpkin. I used to do a jello mold like my mom always did but stopped about a decade ago because people other than me hardly ate it. We have always done a huge feast and eaten leftovers for days, but increasingly the kids are not wanting leftover paks (something that I loved about Thanksgiving as kid, we ate dinner at the Grandparents in Kenosha at 1 O'Clock and then dug into the leftovers when we got home at around 7) so I am scaling back.

I don't know where I'll be two days from now, much less next week. No idea what I will have. The problem for me is that most restaurants get rid of their regular menu and only serve Thanksgiving food on that day. So it's a struggle to find decent food on Thanksgiving but I usually find something.

Well if youre in L.A. then you can always go Chinese- they are always open during that holiday. I remember once when my mom screwed up the turkey (she was an awful cook), and we ended up having Thanksgiving dinner in a Chinese restaurant- it was packed.

In Sacramento right now. On Thanksgiving, will either be in Sausalito (plenty of places I can go in SF), Spokane (no idea where to go there), or on a cross country road trip to FL (truck stop food I guess, yuck :( )

Food, fire and fun.

I got the pit ready...;)...

before dawn.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!
