Died today at age 73. He suffered from Alzheimer's Disease...

He has been freed from Alzheimer's, and I'm glad for that, but he will be missed.

I loved his songs when I was a kid. RIP, old friend.

Sad day here in central MN.

Bobby Vee gave his last live performance in St. Joseph, MN in the summer of 2013. Needless to say, Bobby Vee is a legend in these parts. I don't know how many people are aware of this but Bobby Vee got his first big break in show business as a fill in at the show Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" died on their way to.

Early in his career, a former band mate of his suggested he change his name from Bobby Velline to Bobby Vee. The band mate later went on to have a pretty good career. His name was Bob Dylan.

Thanks for even more memories. I was born in '52, Two older sisters, four and eight years older. Dudes with greasy hair who would run their fingers through their 'do then wipe their hand on their Levis. The younger sister had every boy in the 'hood chasing her. I grew up on Elvis, Ricky, and later Dylan. But yeah, Bobby V? Are you kiddin' me? Thanks for the memories.
