It was nice knowing all of you

although I am no longer a Christian I would disagree

cults differ in that you can not leave them without experiencing physical harm/threat

I could say the same thing about Islam, or any religion. A lot of people that try to leave their religion experience physical harm/threat for trying to do so.

But let me be clear, this isn't always the case. And neither is it always the case for cults; it really depends on which cult/religion/demonination you are a part of.

that's an interesting perspective

I still don't think it's ethical to do those types of things, but I don't know if outlawing cults is the best idea.

I still believe in freedom of religion, and outlawing cults would be a violation of that principle.

no you couldn't say the same thing about Islam

and no it does not depend

it is always the same for cults...they do not allow their members to leave

their one leader makes all of the decisions, the leaders word is law and their law does not recognize outside laws, they use physical deprivation for indoctrination and members are not allowed to interact with family or others who are not members

it is like a giant hive...no one leaves the hive and all must think alike

because for you religion and cults are the same thing, is that correct?

Yes I can. There are many people who tried to leave the Islamic faith (particularly women) that have been met with violent opposition for trying to do so.

It does depend. Not every denomination/religion/cult is the same.

Once again, all of what you just said is entirely dependant on what cult it is. It's not always the same for every one.
