So apparently the virus can go mosquito-human-mosquito (healthy mosquito biting an infected human gets infected), or human-human (very rare), or mosquito-mosquito (their offspring).

It seems like Zika is not lethal to adults and people with normal immune systems, but it causes deformities in fetuses and it can probably harm people who are immune compromised. I had no idea it was related to west nile. About 8 years ago I contracted west nile in the U.S... it was so intense, I was sick for 2 weeks, but I didn't need to stay at the hospital. I can see how it could kill a weaker person though!!

As with the Qatar World Cup they should never have been given it in the first place.
