Trump's quest to kill Obamacare hurts the middle class

I am part of the middle class and this obamascare is hitting me hard in the wallet.
I don't mind if my monthly premiums goes up $50 to $100,but over $400 more is unacceptable.

Premiums willl be going up even higher for 2018. You'll be making up any subsidy funding shortfall in your state now that Trump stopped the federal CSR payments.

Welcome to Trumpcare

...to cover the debt obamascare has caused...we'll see what happens.

My premiums has tripled in order to offset the costs of obamascare.
From $125.00 to $537.00 a month.
Sure I shopped around for cheaper payments yet the deductibles and co pays are higher and not easy to meet.
This obamascare must be stopped hard and replaced. I do NOT want to pay for something for "others" to use.

Get used to it:

Halt In Subsidies For Health Insurers Expected To Drive Up Costs For Middle Class

President Trump's decision Thursday to end subsidy payments to health insurance companies is expected to raise premiums for middle-class families and cost the federal government hundreds of billions of dollars.

Thanks, Trump.

Yep, yet another lie by Trump.

But this isn't just about Trump. Republican Middle Class voters have been voting against their own interests for YEARS!! It is both fascinating, AND scary. Because they never seem to smarten up. The Republican politicians want to strip everything away from the MC, give it to the rich and Corps, but they just keep voting Republican.

Problem is their ignorance and stubbornness on what's going is dragging all of us down. Even their OWN FAMILIES. My God you would think they would want their kids and grand-kids to grow up where they can afford Health Insurance. Have a pension. Have clean air and water.

I guess not.

Without knowing what your old policy covered tells us nothing about whether that increase is reasonable. Under the ACA, minimum insurance standards were mandated, such as vaccinations, hospital care, etc. Your old policy may have been one of those junk policies that didn't have much coverage. They were cheap and they didn't cover much.

More on this:
Actually, Trump is raising health insurance premiums

But Trump's decision to halt funding for Obamacare's cost-sharing subsidies last week will actually raise rates next year. Plus, the move increases what taxpayers will have to shell out to support Obamacare.

...to cover the debt obamascare has caused...we'll see what happens.
That's a blatant misrepresentation. Trump cancelling the subsidies to insurance companies, that Obama allowed, will mean that insurance companies will need to raise premiums to cover the shortfall. Worse, the more expensive premiums will receive personal subsidies for those who get subsidies. Since those premiums will be more expensive means that taxpayers will shell out more money.

See? Yet another Trumpeteer who doesn't realize he was conned.

Repeat, wash and dry... Say that over and over so the hurt is not as bad. Again the only ones fooled
were Hillary and all of her bots. Look at their reactions election night. And their insane behavior since the election.

Yup, if you are a middle class person that voted for Trump, you fell for his con, which not only included this but also, making it impossible to sue financial companies that cheat you.

Making it impossible to sue financial companies that chest you? Where did that come from? Not from anything you posted here. Isnthis an example of throwing **** up against the wall? Wait. Let me answer that. Yes.

The premiums were going up before Trump was president. The democrats created the mess called Obamacare.

You don't seem to be getting what's happening here. Trump added ~20% to premium increases for next year. On purpose.

In many places, he took increases that would've at or near zero and turned them into high double digit hikes for next year. Some examples:

North Carolina
"Ending these federal reimbursements will drive up premium costs and make it harder for insurers to participate in the ACA marketplace in the long run," the company said in a statement. "Had CSR payments not been eliminated, Blue Cross NC’s final rate request for ACA customers’ average would have been near zero."

Tennessee
BCBST attributes nearly all of its average 21 percent premium increase request to the unknowns of the upcoming year.*

Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania insurers offering Obamacare plans will need to raise premiums an average 30.6 percent in 2018, nearly four times the increase that had been anticipated before President Donald Trump scrapped government subsidies five days ago. . .

Earlier this year, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department had projected an average 7.6 percent rate hike for individual health insurance plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act’s government exchange in this state.

And so on. It's happening all around the country thanks to him.

You do not understand... the payment were illegal! Congress NEVER authorized the money to be spent.
And A federal judge in California recently denied a request to force the Trump administration to continue to make cost-sharing subsidy payments.
We are in this mess because of a poorly crafted bill that was approved by only democrats! Not a republican vote for this mess.
Why does President have the authority to stop the payments? Because the payments were never written into the law! Obama just did it on his
own.

If your meaning is that taking away people's right to sue financial companies is the only gripe that I have against Trump, the answer is NO -- it's just the latest. Among the many areas that Trump has conned the middle class through health care sabotage -- signing an executive order allowing insurers to sell skimpy health insurance plans that do not protect people with pre-existing conditions and that will destabilize the Affordable Care Act’s marketplaces. He also said he would stop making payments to insurers that were authorized by the 2010 law, which will cause companies to increase premiums, hurting middle-class families. His administration shortened the open enrollment period when people can buy insurance policies for next year, and slashed spending on advertising and outreach efforts.

Then there is environmental destruction. Trump signed an executive order overturning a rule restricting the ability of coal companies to dump their mining debris into streams and other waterways, threatening rural communities, forests and wildlife. The head of the EPA, Scott Pruitt, rejected the EPA's own recommendation to ban the pesticide chlorpyrifos, which has been linked to developmental problems in children, and started the process to overturn the Clean Power Plan, the Obama-era proposal to reduce planet-warming emissions from power plants. Trump is also hurting workers by overturning an Obama-era rule that would have required companies seeking federal contracts of $500,000 or more to disclose and fix serious labor and safety violations. It also struck down an Obama-era rule that would have required employers to keep records of workplace injuries for five years, to make sure employers did not hide such information. Trump's Education Department has delayed implementation of an Obama-era rule to ensure that for-profit colleges seeking federal funds were preparing students for good jobs and they made sure students’ debt was not too burdensome. This isn't a full list but my point is made.

Trump, who many of his voters elected because they thought he would help them, is actually betraying them.

Why did the president not request an appropriation in January? Or February? Or March? Or April? Or May? Or June? Or July? Even August probably would've been early enough to avert the Trump Premium Increases.

Even right now, when it's too late to actually reverse the 2018 premium hikes, there's a bill with a filibuster-proof majority in the Senate that appropriates the money and requires insurers to rebate the value of the Trump Premium Increases back to the consumers. Trump opposes it.

So let's not pretend that his hands are tied and he secretly wanted to avert the premium hikes he caused. They aren't and he doesn't.

These increases are on him and his cronies in Congress.

Because he ran on repeal and replacement! It's just that simple. He is not going to fund a failing program!

Great. So to repeat the takeaway here: Trump added ~20% to premium increases for next year. On purpose. He is directly responsible for what he's done to the markets.

And apparently he did it out of bitterness for failing on his repeal-and-replace pledge (good catch!).

"Trump's quest to kill Obamacare hurts the middle class"
of course it does, thats just basic and obvious common sense

it was obvious that doing that would cause home a year ago so its no surprise now.

Of course I admit i dont think that is his goal of course, he doesnt want to hurt us but he doesnt care if we get hurt while he is trying to accomplish his goal with is to sabotage and hurt ACA.

I have no problem with improving healthcare but breaking the current system just because you dont like it with no fixes is moronic and counter productive.

Mining companies cannot dump their sludge into waterways. It didn’t take an Obamacare EO to stop them. That legislation has been in place for dozens of years. If Obamacare wanted all of these EOs to stand, they should have been passed by legislation. There are already plenty of laws in place protecting workers from unsafe work practices. What? You think Obama invented those?? As to colleges preparing their students for good jobs? That’s absolutely ridiculous. Their job is to lead their students to water. Not jam it down their throats. Make sure student debt isn’t too burdensome? What?? We don’t need gvmt to set rules in place for the colleges. We need gvmt guaranteed LOAN programs to do that. Make for-profit colleges responsible? Really??

And, my friend, you did not even address my criticism of your OP. Read it again. It was short. Don’t know how you could have missed it.

Wall? Meet the crap that’s been thrown at you.

Not bitterness and you know it. Obamacare is done and you can thank the dems for crafting a very poor bill.

The problem with that line of thinking is that some smart planning on the part of the vast majority of states is turning this into a positive (for anyone eligible for an exchange subsidy).

Trump's ObamaCare move may bolster law
President Trump’s decision to cancel key ObamaCare payments could be backfiring. . .

But there are inadvertent benefits of Trump’s action: Many ObamaCare enrollees are actually getting a better deal and the potential to get more generous insurance because Trump cut off the payments.

“It sounds very counterintuitive that premiums going up a lot could actually lead to many people paying less for health insurance,” said Larry Levitt, a health policy expert at the Kaiser Family Foundation. “But that is the way the math works.”
Before the action, state regulators and insurers anticipated that Trump would cut off the CSR payments, which reimburse insurers for discounts to low-income people, and planned ahead.

Insurers raised premiums on one type of plan, known as “silver” plans, to compensate for the loss of the payments. Silver plans are the ones used to calculate how much of a subsidy consumers get.

If the plans are more expensive, people get a bigger subsidy. So the higher premiums lead to bigger subsidies, which consumers can now use to buy another type of plan, even a more generous “gold” plan, at a lower cost than they otherwise would have.

The result is that the majority of ObamaCare enrollees are either held harmless or actually able to buy coverage at a lower cost than if Trump had not cut off the payments.

The premiums were going up before Trump was president. The democrats created the mess called Obamacare.

The premiums were going up before anyone even heard of Obama. Premiums have been going up faster than inflation for decades. Thanks to Trump "fixing" Obamacare, now they'll go up even faster. Thanks, Trump.

I would expect my rates to go lower, like they were before Obamacare. Don't believe everything the Clinton News Network tells you.
