I say if the GOP pull the trigger on this, the gun will be pointing at their own head.

Its definitely a lacking plan. I'm not sure how representative of everyone a poll of 1001 people is. particularly when their cut of it isn't representative of the populace ( poll was 35% , 35% ind, 22% rep and the rest other while the populace is 30, 42, 26 rest other ) but polls often skew dem. still as I said its not a good plan I wouldn't vote for it if it were me.

GOP should have had a working plan ready to go in 2012 when they didn't win the White House the last time. The GOP doesn't agree on anything anymore, did they really think every Republican was just going to come together and hold hands and sing kumbaya?

It will definitely be what Democrats hit them over the head with in 2018. I'm not so confident it will be a death blow, but it will make it easier. A lot of Republican voters are simply anti-Democrat so I don't expect anything too catastrophic to happen.

It's hard to know what it will take to flip a good chunk of that 40% who are all-GOP all the time. Maybe they cannot be flipped. But, I am not that much of an absolutist.

Something out there will flip them. What that issue will be? That has yet to be found.
