At a CNN town hall Thursday night, Jeff Jeans, of Sedona, Ariz., told Ryan that he was a lifelong Republican and a small-business owner who had previously worked for President Ronald Reagan and President George Bush. Jeans said he was initially adamantly against Obamacare.

“When it was passed, I told my wife we would close our business before I complied with this law,” he said at the George Washington University event.

Jeans recalled how he was diagnosed with a “very curable type of cancer” at 49, and told he only had six weeks to live. He was denied treatment, he continued, because he didn’t have an insurance card

or he could have simply paid for healthcare insurance like most other businessman and when he got cancer.. he would have been covered. Even better.. it might have been discovered earlier and it would have cost the system less money.

That was why the ACA forced everyone to get insurance because you will need it some day and everyone should have to contribute. Just like auto insurance.

I love it when conservatives are such pro-lifers when it comes to fetus' but not when it comes to an actual adult life. Hypocrites, all pro-lifers

Pro life is not a conservative position. Conservatives.. true conservatives believe in small and more efficient government. there is nothing "small government" about the government determining the medical procedures my wife can have.

No one is forced to get auto insurance, you are only required to get auto insurance if you want to drive on a govt road.

You know the saying: pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

This guy ran a successful business but chose to pocket and extra 5k a year instead of insuring the health of him and his family. He doesn't deserve to die but he sure a **** does deserve govt subsides to save his life

None of this matters if we don't reign in population growth. Many idiot conservatives and libruls get squeamish when this subject is brought up, but this issue will sink the quality of healthcare, housing, the job market, and many others in the years to come.

Population growth is all immigration. The fertility rate is below replacement level and dropping

I'm torn on the issue. If a person can afford coverage, refuses to buy said coverage, then has consequences... maybe they ought to bear em. Tuff love and all. I'm kinda tired of the freeloaders (not to be confused with those that truly can't afford HI) that take advantage of our health care system. I have a BIL that falls into this category.
