Obamacare Myths

I do but I understand who is full of BS and take what I get from them with a bucket of salt. Pssst, much of what I know about the claims I made are based on research AND personal experience. Have you even been to the web site and seen what is offered? Have you been making sure you prove you have insurance or paying the fine (tax)? Have you seen hospital prices coming down? Are more people insured or do more have worse coverage than they did before? You keep dancing around what I should be watching and not providing any facts to prove otherwise, me thinks it is you that should broaden your horizons. :peace

Well Casper, you seem to have just a few misconceptions concerning Obamacare. Don’t let Polgara’s post fool you, she’s a one person echo chamber. Her posts are nothing but a series of “I agree with your post about (put misconception or outright lie about Obamacare here) and don’t forget about (put another misconception or outright lie about Obamacare here)".

I'm unaware of any promise concerning "hospital prices going down" . Just post the "research AND personal experience" that you base it on so we can figure out where your confusion comes from.

and I find this particularly odd:"Are more people insured or do more have worse coverage than they did before?". 17 million people are now newly insured. that a pretty basic fact about Obamacare that would be hard to overlook if one did any research. so we do know 17 million people do have better coverage than they did before.

sorry eric, it was never stated that Obamacare would eliminate the uninsured. You are not getting good information. Oh back up your claim about the increased in 2015.
Its been documented in this forum that the govt will spend less in 2020 than if we never passed ACA. so you need to back that one up.
back that one up too.
I get it now. You really have no idea what you're posting. the lie of the year was "if you like your plan you can keep it". And President Obama apologized for that.
I'm seeing a real pattern here. You clearly don't understand what the CBO said. There's the "denials or reputations" you asked for.

I am not seeing any documentation here. And you admitted that I was right on the lie of the year.
Not interesting in re-hashing all of the CBO reports when you will deny them anyway. But I have to ask, rhetorically, whether in 2010 a person would have been happy with 11.9% uninsured at the end of 2015, with the percentage going up throughout 2015?

Yes eric, you're not seeing any documentation because you didn't post any. And you should read what I wrote about the lie of the year again. I think we found out your problem with reality. And eric, see how you make excuses to not back up what you claimed, a classic conservative dodge. And then you hilariously expect me to answer a question. yea, another conservative dodge.

Eric, read this very slowly. this is a debate forum. I asked you to back up your claims.

The ACA always worked for me. I was on it for two years until I qualified for Medicare. During that time, I had affordable health care for the first time in years. I was actually able to afford prescription drugs that I had to really sacrifice for for years. I don't know about the myths or the horror stories, but it sure worked for me. However, we would still be better off with a single payer system like Bernie wants to have and like all other civilized countries in the world have except this one. Health care is a right.
Joe

So you prefer, no demand others pay for your care and you have no problem with that. Got it. Why stop there, how about Single Payer Homes, Single Payer Groceries...

Aren't you the guy that posted how great the stock market and economy are under Obama a few months ago?

Yeah... that's right.

Yes, I did. mmmm, did I make something up? no I didn't. did I cowardly cut and run when asked to back up something I posted? no again. am I still benefitting from the Great Obama Bull Market? yes I am. did you have a point? If you want to make yourself useful for once, encourage Casper and Eric to back up their "points". thanks in advance.

Obamacare Myths
Obamacare Myths

… Falsehoods about the Affordable Care Act are still swirling -- and the intensity of the claims is rising as the exchanges are set to launch ….

“Summary

We’ve been batting down bogus claims about the Affordable Care Act for years, since 2009, when legislation was still in the debate stage. But they’ve been increasing in intensity in recent months as we approach Oct. 1, the date the insurance exchanges will be open for business for those buying their own insurance, mainly with the help of federal subsidies………….

Jobs

Claim: 8.2 million Americans can’t find full-time work partly due to Obamacare.
FactCheck.org says: False.

Claim: The law is a job-killer.
FactCheck.org says: Overblown.

Premiums

Claim: Premiums are going up because of the law. Premiums are going down because of the law.
FactCheck.org says: It depends.

Claim: All of the uninsured will pay less on the exchanges than they could now on the individual market, even without federal subsidies.
FactCheck.org says: False.

Claim: 8.5 million Americans will receive rebates this year averaging about $100 each because of the health care law.
FactCheck.org says: Misleading.

Medical Care

Claim: You won’t be able to choose your own doctor.
Claim: The government will be between you and your doctor.
FactCheck.org says: False.

Claim: If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.
FactCheck.org: Misleading.

And There’s More …

Claim: Those applying for federal subsidies can lie about their income without facing verification.
FactCheck.org says: False.

Claim: Congress is exempt from the law.
FactCheck.org says: False.

We’re happy to report that one of the most paranoid claims about the law — that all patients would be implanted with microchips — appears to have died off, judging by the viral emails our readers send to us. But the law isn’t immune from new government-conspiracy-type claims. One of the latest is that the law includes forced home inspections. That wild distortion actually refers to grants for voluntary state home-visiting programs to help expectant and new parents. Forty-six states had such programs in fiscal 2010.”
No matter what the truth is………….I hear the same tired falsehoods spread thru the media sources opposed to ACA and/or Obama almost daily………..and continuing to misinform and lie to its base….

Shameful

I wonder if Obama had any idea just how destructive ObamaCare was going to be to the Democrat brand ??

When he lied again and again to the American people I wonder if he had any idea that his signature legislation would lead to the Dems losing the Senate, lose more seats in the house and lose multiple Governorships ?

Because I think that he and some of his supporters are still under the delusion that the ACA has been a success.

It's great news for the GOP. It's one thing to lie to millions upon millions of Americans about the supposed benefits of the ACA bit to continue the lie when people are suffering.

Like I said, its good news for the GOP.

You are quick with the charges but if he lied ............

Please list them for all to see because all we ever hear is "He lied...." without ever telling folks what the lies were...........

Let's see the list:....................

Is that what you call a list?.............I would call it a non sequitur followed by a personal attack........Real deep.........NOT

Obama lying to the Nation is a personal attack against Obama ?

"I will sign a universal health care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family's premium by up to $2,500 a year." - Barack Obama
Promise broken - politifact.
The Obameter: Cut the cost of a typical family's health insurance premium by up to $2,500 a year | PolitiFact

He knew the average family wouldn't save money but they had to hide that -
“In terms of risk-rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in—you made explicit that healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed, okay. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass" - Jonathan Gruber MIT Economist and one of the architects of the ACA.

Now opponents of the ACA have exaggerated the increases true. But Obama did promise lower premiums and they have increased. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services states that premium increases will settle in at about 6 to 6.5% per year.
The National Association of Insurance Commissioners states that the ACA added about 1 to 3% increase on top of the regular increases.

Social D, the facts are right there in front of you and you still cant see it. He didn't single a universal health care bill. That was DOA in congress so he extended the ultimate olive branch to republicans and compromised on their plan of mandates. so its not really a lie that he couldn't get his plan through congress. See how once again the conservative narrative relies on ignorance of the facts. A perfect example of that is you think tax cuts increase revenue.

If its so successful why did Democrats in the midterms not run on it ?

Why did they pretend it didn't exist ?

Why did they get their clocks cleaned ? Lose the Senate ? Lose Seats in the House ? Lose Governor races ?

States were allowed to set up Single Payer instead of ObamaCare

It was written into the law. Vermont tried to set up singlepayer. How did that work out ?

So what you are saying is he didn't break his promise on the cost cutting.. instead he broke his promise on universal health care?

His UHC plan was DOA in congress. If you want to call congress not even considering a UHC and then President Obama extending the ultimate olive branch to republicans by compromising on mandates "breaking his promise", go right ahead. Its not like Bush promising to "pay the debt down to a historically low level". what prevented bush from attempting "pay down the debt"? the answer is Bush.

Now you seem to be aware of the difference between a blatant lie and campaign promise, lets examine what it means that President Obama "broke his campaign promise" It means every editorial you read and obediently believe is lying when they say "President Obama said he would lower costs by 2500". they get you to believe President Obama made that promise abut Obamacare. He didn't. Hey, remember when you thought tax cuts paid for themselves. The conservative media thanks you for your obedience.

BTW two years after the ACA passed Obama was still saying the average family of 4 would save 2500 and if you like your plan you can keep your plan. So regardless of whether it was UHC or the ACA he made that pledge either way.
