White woman Amy Cooper fired after calling police on black man who told her to leash dog in New York’s Central Park | South China Morning Post

In viral video, investment firm employee tells phone operator ‘there’s an African-American man threatening my life

New York mayor condemns her actions as ‘racism, plain and simple’

The black guy did not have his dog leashed in Central Park, so she made this outlandish call to the cops. She got what shedeserved.

Ummm...

The black guy isn't the one who had the dog. The lady had the dog off its leash. Just saying...

You've got your story mixed a bit there.

I couldn’t find the video, but this is sad. The insult apparently done to the black person is possibly one of several he’s experienced, something white people may have trouble imagining. But the woman apparently apologized for being such a jerk. Why couldn’t her employer just assign her to some consciousness-raising session w/o pay rather than fire her? When things like this happen, the idea should be to make a better citizen out of the offender, to have her confront her own prejudices. This may make her unemployable and bitter.

Why is this even a news story? The lady should have put her dog on the leash, but the man did threaten the dog so it isn't unreasonable for her to be scared.

On a a national stage, she came off as
  • a dangerous liar,
  • a racist, and
  • a puppy-choker.

That's a serious PR liability.

The firm really had no other reasonable choice.

Because the woman lied trying SWAT the guy.

Did you miss that part where she told potentially lethal lies?

From the article:

Her words to the operator, “There is an African-American man, I’m in Central Park. He’s recording me and threatening me and threatening my dog"

His words to her that prompted the call, "Look, if you are going to do what you want, then I am going to do what I want and you aren't going to like it."

That is clearly a threat......

I agree, they both could have handled the situation much better. My opinion, 60 - 40 on the woman. All she had to do was leash her dog. I'm a dog owner and frequent walker, if she is off leash when hiking its my responsibility. On leash when walking in public.

Yep, completely agree the woman is at fault her for not putting the dog on the leash and overreacting. The guy shouldn't have made the threat though as that was obviously going to escalate the situation, it wasn't his place to enforce the rules. If it had been a man instead of a woman he made that comment to he likely would have got punched in the face, but then again he likely would not have threatened another man.

Not only that, you don't feed another person's dog, no matter what, but especially after what he said to her:

If the roles had been reversed and a white man had said and done the same thing to a black woman many of the same people chastising her would be empathetic to the woman and criticizing the man for his actions. It is absolutely nuts how people lose any semblance of objectivity when race is involved.

A threat that he'd give the dog a treat.

Not a threat of violence.

Bull****.

Anyone choking a ****ing dog like that gets no sympathy

Where the **** do you live where they give sympathy to puppy-kickers?

"I'm going to do what I want, and you aren't going to like"

Sure he was simply going to give the dog a treat.............you can't be that dense.

That's what the evidence says.
so....

The world is not always as I expect.
So, I look at the evidence available to inform my guesses.

The black guy did not have his dog leashed in Central Park, so she made this outlandish call to the cops. She got what shedeserved.

It's actually worse than that. The black guy wasn't the one with his dog off the leash. The woman was. The black guy asked her to put her dog on a leash and she tried to use her white privilege to lie and get the man arrested.

She was distraught and panicked due to some stranger threatening her.

Wrong, because there's no way in ****ing hell a black woman would call the police on a white man and expect them to trust her story over his.

So if I told you that I was going to do something you aren't going to like and then try to entice your dog over to me, you believe I only intend to give the dog a treat?

That's what you get when you "import" liberal Canadians ...

What did she lie about? The man was recording her, and he previously threatened her and the dog.

What relevance does her employment have to this?

The question is rhetorical, of course. Hate-filled liberals love nothing more than to harm people with the wrong skin color. In this case by pressuring her employer to fire her.

The guy tried to give the dog a dog treat... Thats not assaulting the dog or threatening its life. Unless theres some part of the video I didnt watch...

That would be interesting if he baiter her by acting pycho off cam and pretending like hes gonna give her poisoned treats. But you cant really prove that.

I think he was just saying "Well if youre not gonna obey the rules then im gonna make your dog like me, seeing as its off a leash." And he then tried to give a treat. And of course the woman wouldnt like that.
