GOP planning to expunge Trump impeachment if they win House

WASHINGTON — As the Senate is set to vote Wednesday on the removal from office of President Trump — with acquittal all but assured — Republicans are already plotting to expunge his impeachment if they retake the House.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have taunted that “impeachment will last forever,” but GOP Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, in line to be speaker if Republicans regain the majority in the November election, doesn’t agree.

First they impeach Schiff, retire Pelosi or else, then expunge the time impeachment as the miscarriage of justice it was.

The revenge porn has to stop. Impeachment wasn’t a “miscarriage of justice” because, with the possible exception of Nixon, justice has never had anything to do with any impeachment proceeding. Republicans and Democrats alike need to stop plotting revenge for the last perceived slight and do the ****ing job they were sent there to do.

They should impeach the next democratic president on day one.

There seems to be no bottom to the fealty Trump requires. They appear to exist only to do his bidding. Passing bills to help the country seems like a quaint, forgotten pastime.

Sounds good to me ... :)

That they let Trump off with 'Four more years!' is a miscarriage of justice & the ruining of our democratic system of government. The man is a liar & crook. He told at least 7 lies during his SOTU speech alone. He's not backing pre-existing conditions despite his claim. His DOJ is supporting the states that are suing to get rid of that part of the ACA.

Bastards, all of them

That will never happen for one reason. The republicans have effectively and irrevocably dissolved forever the power of any congress, now or a hundred years into future, to remove a sitting president.

No, not really.

Absolutely, more than ever after hearing this. I didn't even know that was an option. A baseless, factless, affront to our system, political bull**** process deserves to be relegated to the dumpster of history.

NOT a Constitutional lawyer, but I believe all of this is ridiculously moot. The impeachment has already taken place. The ONLY way it could be undone is through a legal challenge through the Supreme Court and then the challenge would have to be able to prove some form of verifiable conspiracy. Impeachment happened. The Senate will acquit. The end.

The Supreme Court does not have jurisdiction over conviction on articles of impeachment. That's very much part of what it means when someone says impeachment is a political process. There is no judicial review. Nobody to say "that isn't a high crime or misdemeanor, so we reverse."
