Department store chain plans to leave weaker shopping malls and focus on smaller stores in strip malls

Macy’s announced on Tuesday that it will close 125 stores and axe 2,000 jobs, becoming the latest shopping giant to shutter shops amid a radical reordering of the retail landscape.

The department store chain plans to exit weaker shopping malls and focus on opening smaller-format stores in strip malls.

I think anyone who has seen the movie 'Miracle on 34th Street' has a certain emotional connection to one of the premier department stores in NYC: Macy's. But they are going the same way as Sears, Walmart, JC Penney's, etc. America is changing,.

Years ago the TV series 'Route 66' featured a different & distinctive town in each episode. Now they are all Starbucks, Walmart, Dunkin' & there's no way to tell them apart.

As long as we still get a giant Underdog floating down the street.
