Large family would gather where the "bandicoots" were plaguing a farm. The men would gather straw and start stuffing it down rat holes, while the women prepared fires. The straw would burn and stun the rats, and these men would put their hands down the holes, grabbing choking rats and quickly snapping their necks (the leader noted he had some antivenin because sometimes cobras were also hunting rats in the holes). the women would skin out the rats and tie their tails to long branches set above the fires to smoke the rat meat. At the end of the show, they had 100s of rats smoking away.
Can't do that in NYC. Green and smoke don't mix well.

About India, don't some of them worship rats? I remember an episode of Amazing Race. They had to go barefooted into a rat den.

the show specifically noted that these rat slayers were not Hindu. I don't recall what they were.

New Yorks rats would eat his minks for a snack. I have personally seen some that would give me pause to send a large dog after them. Apparently the cats in New York have better things to do. I don't don't blame them one bit after seeing some monster rats out that way. Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever seen a skinny rat in New York, they all looked very well fed.

LA is having a huge rat problem, too. I'm hearing horror stories from some of my friends that live there.

Whats worse is the poison used to control them is about to get banned. Fun times. I should rent my barn cats to one of those high condo units in the swanky parts of LA. They will keep that rat population down thats for sure. Stone cold killers they are.

Yeah, you could probably make some good money. But it wouldn't make a dent in the problem. For that you'd need hundreds if not thousands of barn cats.

I was impressed with the video of the five or six little border terriers. They were amazing...I've never seen anything like it. But the rats screaming got to me and I had to stop watching...but yeah, border terriers, definitely the best way to kill lots and lots of rats.

    And they're soooo cute....like little Benji's....
