Poland Spring accused of defrauding consumers by peddling water from '''phony''' springs

A class-action suit contends the company's spring in Poland, Maine, ran dry nearly 50 years ago.

It’s springtime for the lawyers who contend Poland Spring water doesn’t come from an actual spring.

A federal judge in Connecticut on Thursday gave the green light to a class-action lawsuit claiming the bottled water company’s owner, Nestlé SA, defrauded customers by filling their bottles with ordinary groundwater — not “100% Natural Spring Water” as the company claims.

Consumer fraud by bottled water giant Nestle? There is a spring there in Maine but the class action suit claims that it went dry years ago & that the firm is bottling ordinary tap water under a misleading name. Great marketing ploy until they get caught.

Nestle? Surely not Nestle. I'm shocked.

Well duh.....

You probably wouldn't want actual spring water anyway, not unless you like a dash of deer crap, dead fish, and moss with your H20.

No that's stream, lake or river water. Spring water is naturally filtered. That's why people have always sought it out. I don't want to run afoul of a certain corporate legal department so I'd just advise people to be discriminating in their commercial spring water choices.

Yeah, I used to collect it high in the mountains of a large state forest. It seeped out of the ground in this mossy grove of mountain laurel, and was ultra pure and clear. Just have to boil and filter it through a fine sieve and it's ready to drink.

Also have to look up the soil in the area too though, some areas have compounds in the soil which can be toxic.
