NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Democratic U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez says President Donald Trump’s attack on NBA star LeBron James is part of a larger pattern of racist behavior.

Menendez wrote in a tweet Monday that Trump wouldn’t have questioned James’ intelligence or charity work if he were white. Trump criticized James on Friday after an interview aired with CNN anchor Don Lemon in which he deemed Trump divisive.

Menendez tweeted out a thread that included references to Trump’s disparaging remarks about Mexican immigrants during his campaign kickoff speech for the Republican presidential nomination and the president’s repeated claim that California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters, who is black, is “low IQ.”

Trump attacks white people all the time, with much force force and fury than his innocent comment on James.

Menendez is playing the race card, and not even well.

I think this would have gone better if Menendez had pointed out that Swampy liked James before the tweet, but... I don't trust a word out of his mouth either.

Menendez is calling out a clear pattern of racial bias on Trump's part.
 
Racial bias? Lol, please. Trump attacks those who attack him, period.

Was this petty? Absolutely. Thin skinned? Yep. Beneath the office of the president. Of course.



But to call it racism cheapens any other comment about it, and frankly, makes me not even want to listen to any other obvious nonsense from the OP.

I doubt it, Menendez and Waters are doing what they do best.

Trump considers just about anyone that questions him or his team as being "stupid" or worse. Makes no difference who we are talking about but Trump tends to go after everyone in a harsh manner no matter what race they are.

This is the sort of thing that takes us further away from discussing the actual issues.

(Appreciate this coming from someone who has zero respect for or interest in defending Trump.)

The darker you are the lower IQ you have; intelligence is mostly attacked if your pigment is not high orange.........
