School bans 'Harry Potter' books

Getting a bit low in your fake defense, eh?!? Comparing the school's ban on a certain book to Hitler's book ban ...

One book ban leads to another was my point.

Once it begins where does it stop???

In the past it would be a stupid thing but now a days in this age of Internet and tablets, it has no impact at all except possibly cementing the nonsense in little children's heads.

It would seem that many christians in america do not favour the concept of free speech.

Nashville school bans 'Harry Potter' books in *checks notes* 2019

I expect this to be one more thread in which christians will not participate because it is such an excellent example of the absurdity of christianity.

Find a Muslim school that has Harry Potter books in it's library and get back to us. This is a stupid rant. It would be bizarre for a Christian school to have books making people involved in witchcraft to be heroes.

Of course, since by your message you possibly don't realize that Harry Potter books are FICTION, not science and history books, you could just be confused.

This thread is another of hundreds, if not thousands, of examples on this forum of why every Christian should vote straight Republican in every election for every office.

I'm confident you have the complete writings of Hitler, Mao and Stalinn with English translations, ,correct?

Of course, many Democrats on this forum cheered a Democratic run school district decision to pain over art it didn't like and Democratic run PUBLIC schools have banned LOTS of books, including books on the NYT's Best Seller list.

This thread is NOT about a Catholic school banning books. The new fascist Democratic Party is radically into censorship. Rather, it is that this is just seizing on an opportunity to attack Christians, nothing else. There are many Democrats on this forum who will go to any extrapolation on any topic to make excuse to attack over 70% of Americans - and American voters.

It is notable that for every message on the forum attacking atheists, there are likely 100 messages by Democrats attacking Christians and Christianity. Voter's need to understand how INTENSELY and PROACTIVELY the Democratic Party is obsessed with bigoted hate mongering against Christians.

Private, Catholic elementary school.

They can decide what to carry in their library and what not.

Doesn't stop any parent from buying those books for their kids.

So, what's your problem?

You have got to be kidding?

The problem is rather obvious i would have thought.

That they can do as they please is not the problem. That they come up with ridiculous reasons to do as they please is.

Would you care to give some kind of validity to the absurd claim of the books having real spells that can conjure up evil spirits as an excuse to ban them.

This has nothing to do with "many christians in america" or "the concept of free speech". This is about a decision by one private school pastor.

btw, I am not a christian and I read all of the books to my sons when they were young...and I've seen all the movies and all the spin off movies.

You know what I think is more weird than this issue? Your obsession with christians and their beliefs.

When i see a public outcry by many christians over this absurdity then you can make the claim of not many christians.

And it does have something to do with free speech when a pastor tries to ban a book.Hardly an obsesion to want a christian to explain just how their twisted thinking actually works. It is after all chjristians who say they are the sane ones in believing this nonsense.

You still have that comprehension problem, I see.

This is what I said...

1. This has nothing to do with "many christians".

2. This has nothing to do with "the concept of free speech".

3. This is about the decision of one private school pastor.

4. I'm not a christian.

5. I read all the books.

6. I've seen all the movies.

7. The OP is obsessed with christians.

Nothing in your comment is in my post.

Just as you seem to be obsessed with backing this pastor for his absurd thinking.

Why do you continue to post lies and garbage about every subject?
Fascinating when you are such a racist.
You know nothing about any party, yet you always post bull****.
Always laughable.

So just for my own clarification and education: is it just the magic of harry potter books that’s a problem for Christians, or any kind of magic?

Because the entire fantasy genre is based on magic. Why don’t Christians have such a problem with, say, the Lord of the Rings series? Because Gandolf is a big wizard and a big character in the book. Is wizardry somehow OK but not witchcraft?

What about chronicles of Narnia? That’s a magical fantasy book actually written by a prominent Christian.

Am I just trying to make sense out of something that shouldn’t make sense, but just to be accepted? Harry potter magic bad, other fantasy book magic OK?

Stories like this just make people question if some private schools should be accredited. A diploma from a school that teaches that reading harry potter will summon bad spirits, should call that diploma into question.

I'd be curious how many Democrats would protest this book series being in their school's public library:

Yes, I'm sure you are just itching to make a dishonest 'both sides' statement to underhandedly defend the religious twits who banned Harry Potter while attacking imagined Democrats.

I could list the many thousands of differences between the fictional Harry Potter, and the self-serving revisionist swill spewed by that fat pillhead but....eh... I've allowed myself to be sucked into too many disengenuous "debates".

So....... if they are "imagined" Democrats, then you'd have no problem with the Rush kids books being in public school libraries?

There is no comparison. Take your dishonest swill elsewhere.

Of course they're comparable. They're both book series created for children to read and enjoy. They both spark a thirst for reading more. They both have interesting characters and plots that keep kids' attention.

Do you believe some kids' books should be banned from public school libraries?

Then you'd probably be very surprised that most Christians think the anti-Harry Potter people are ridiculous.

Until i can actually see that most christians think this ridiculous then you can make that point. What i see now is their silence on the subject which gives tacit support for it.

How do you know who is a Christian here and who isn't? I am one - I think anti-HP people are koooooky and really missing out. I've been around Christians my entire life. I can't think of any of them who are anti-HP. Even my super-duper, ultra-conservative, mega-traditional sister is a fan.

As a Catholic with many priest and former priest friends, I can roll my eyes with them and assure you that this is an example of the absurdity of the Good Father Reehil, nothing more. Fitting that it comes out of Tennessee, bout 100 years after Scopes. No offense to the Volunteer State.
